Evo X vs. Evo VIII and IX

Now back on topic. If the results of the IX and X on the track are mixed, shouldn't the X owners NOT be so sensitive when someone says the IX can beat the X on a road course stock-for-stock? Likewise, the VIII/IX owners shouldn't get all hissy if the X owners say the same about their car.

the 08 STI is not that shiny... I think the X is away better car. So i think as much guy leaving the evo, as much will come. So i wouldn't worry about the X future right now.
Local Evo X here running 13.9's and low 14's at the track. He's not a great driver but you get the idea, compare with stock 13.4 times with the previous Evo's average run. A half a second is the world IMO. Unfortunatly 14's are the new 16's and a high13/low14 second car is SLOW by today's standards.
I think once the ECU gets cracked these X's are going to be monsters but till then they are going to get a bad name.

i think when more evo x's start showing up more at the drag strip is when we will see an average of what it is doing stock. one evo x doing 13.9 doesn't mean the average of all x's is that, so comparing that to the average of thousands of ix's is not really a comparison. maybe if mitsubishi comes up with a new tune to lean it out a bit it may run better stock, who knows.
^^ LOL yeah what he said. it's funny how the X in so many people's minds lives and dies by its drag times. It's putting down mid 13's stock anyway, so the supposed slowness seems to really have boiled down to worn-out, pre-production models in the mag tests.
And yeah I can't wait till they crack the ECU on the X, and this thread is written off to sour grapes, as were similar threads about the VII compared to the venerable VI TME, and more recently the smack talking about the MIVEC on the IX being a hindrance, and impossible to tune LOL.

NEW EVOS ARE JUNK! 3680 pounds?!?!?! 1/4 mile in 13.8 ? thats not evolution. thats extinction.
Prices are WAY WAY to high, performance is getting worse, and they are not putting the added price into the interior. cheaper looking than a IX and the boxy aero kit is a joke.
people talk about the GTR being so heavy? this is only a fat person away from weighing the same, but being 190 hp less.

I honestly think that the power feels more "refined" because the car is not as raw as previous years. Also the lateral acceleration just feels soft and comfy because of the added weight.
They put in some cloth style seats and stiched the word recaro in them. They feel worse than my IX seats.
People can sit back and say "but it made it around the track 1 second faster than a IX"... Thats with a professional driver. 95% of us will not see that difference around the track, but will feel the difference on the street.
Yes markets must grow up, but they took the "middle age kid-inside adult" out of the equation.
Now for a evo your average payment with $2000.00 is something around $650+ without insurance etc etc.
And lets be honest, you are in corvette range, or caymen range for that kind of money. A family member just got a 2007 vette for $42,000 out the door.
insurance on the vette saved him $600 a year over the last evo and sti he had.

I paid less for my X than I would for a 135i. I plan to use that extra money saved on ice cream.
No offense man, i think its cool to change the car around, but not for the worse.
I had my heart set on that car for 2 years, and was hoping it would be "better" than the IX.
