I am paying for three vehicles right now. If I get an Evo X, one of my vehicles will be gone. But to be honest, I want to see the potential of this new engine. Will the new engine be to the 4G63 what the K series was to the B series Honda engines.

Just in case you didn't already know, the new motor is made out of aluminum, so the answer is no it won't be more capable than the 4G63. It might be lighter, and produce more power in stock form, however its overal potential for modification will be **** poor compared to the muscular cast iron 4G63.

Nope, cause I'm broke after buying/selling too many cars in the past 5 years! And the IX looks gorgeous and rocks as is!

If I had an VIII still.......different story.

I will not trade my VIII. Well, the X hasn't really been proven or tested yet. Everything as of now is just speculation. Ask me this question again one year after the X comes out.

The X is what convinced me to get the IX earlier than anticipated. I didn't want to get stuck with driving that thing with its huge gaping air dam that looks like it wants to eat small animals and children.

i would not trade up. I would however like to have the X with the paddles as my daily driver and my 8 as the track car. The X stock for stock seems to be better, but that aluminum block is gonna hurt overall potential (maybe.). They're 2 very different machines.

Historically this correct, but there is newer technology in this engine. Nowadays, just because it's aluminum doesn't necessarily mean you can't wring just as much power out of it. It's direct-injection after all, which means more cooling effect from the fuel through better atomization, and more precision on exactly when it is injected, so there is less of a need for the internals and block to resist knock and high temperatures. I'm not saying it can outperform a 4g63, I'm just saying we shouldn't dismiss it out of hand simply because it is aluminum.

I'm not saying the X won't have a great engine. But just keep in mind that the 4G63 holds the highest hp/liter record for ANY gasoline powered piston engine (FQ Evo) according to Wikipedia. It's going to be very difficult to create a better engine from scratch.

i've been thinking of selling my 911 to get an Evo X, but i think i'll wait until the X's second production year to buy one so they can work some bugs out of that new design...

i think it would be cool to have an older VIII and a new X under the same roof for comparison's sake if nothing else.

It all depends on the performance gains when parts come out for it. We'll see soon as the car is released. For now, I'll enjoy my VIII =]

The X is a nice car but I won't be getting the first year model. If their first year is proven then I'll get the 2nd year model as I am just scared of those first year model recalls . I won't be trading my IX though.
