If you have 102,000 miles on your '06 MR, than how many miles must you have on your 2000 Honda Accord EX? And by the way, I competely destroyed my stock clutch at the 17,000 mile mark....Whoops!

i think the accord is at 112k right now. once i bought the EVO i didn't drive it much. and when i first got the EVO, i had the Accord, a 1999 Civic Si, and a 1995 Acura Integra. i sold the teg and the Si, kept the accord and the EVO.

yeah, i've had all the scheduled services done. replaced the timing belt, spark plugs, balance shaft belt, changed fluids in the diffs, ACD, tranny, changed oil every 5k miles (royal purple w/ mobil 1 filter only since about 20k miles). i make sure the maintenance is up to date on all my cars. you have to if you want the car to last. little over 102k miles and still goin strong. no boost leaks, no nothing. the only problem i have is the P0300 code, worn holes through the driver's floor mat (cheap *** stuff), and my throttle sticks a little bit until the car warms up. people recommend cleaning the throttle body, just haven't gotten around to doing that yet.

Thats incredible ODUB!

Sounds like no major problems from the car and it sounds like you spiritly drive the car. Does the car still feel tight like it will go another 100k or are things starting to loosen up and becoming clapped out in your opinion?

"spritedly drive" is putting it very lightly. my driving style has often been called the "gran turismo" driving style. i like to refer to it as "everyday autocross." i attack every corner i encounter as hard as i possibly can safely on the street. i go out of my way to find roads with curves to drive on. i redline 1st and 2nd gear 60-70% of the times i take off from a stop. i let the rear end slide whenever possible around corners, and sometimes will turn around and take the same corner 4 or 5 times until i'm satisfied with the way i took it.

i just love driving. everytime i get behind the wheel, i DRIVE. there's no point A to point B putt putting around. i don't care about saving gas, tires, or brakes. that's why i went to college. to get a good enough job to support my driving habits haha. when i use my brakes, i USE them. i go hard and deep into every corner i run into, so i'm rough on brakes.

don't care lol

my car was been thoroughly tested, and yeah i think it'll go another 100k if i decide to keep it that long. the EVO's a good car, but i have to say i'm surprised at all the reaction to an EVO having 100k miles and not blowing apart. it's not supposed to. this thing is a street legal rally car. built with high quality, high strength components to withstand the punishment of racing. that's why for the life of me i can't understand why anybody would baby these things. the car was built to be driven, and driven HARD.

at mitsubishi's test tracks they have 50mph jumps built into the tracks. why do you think that is?

because the EVO can take it. it's made to do stuff like that. i've jumped mine a few times...not always on purpose lol it's fun as hell. stop being afraid to drive/launch your cars.

i still contend that people who burn out clutches, trannys, and blow motors at low miles just can't drive. operator error. you'll never get me to believe that the EVO's clutch is so weak that it burns out at 5-15k miles on it's own. i call BS on that because i got 70k out of mine, and i beat on it every chance i got. learn to drive your car, don't misshift, ride the clutch, or grind the gears, and you shouldn't have any problems with it lasting. i heel-toe downshift every gear, everytime i slow down. i like always being in gear, and that prevents clutch/tranny wear by revmatching every downshift smoothly instead of jamming it in gear, then gassing, and slipping the clutch to match the rpms. all i know is, that i love this car.

.... the only thing i didn't like was putting all the miles on my car, and spending so much money on gas, tires, brakes, oil changes, etc, and not really getting any enjoyment out of it.
That all makes no sense. Even if you just worked 20 days a month that would be at least $1200 per month in gas alone!

i don't work 20 days a month. it's usually 14 unless there's overtime we had a 45 day turnaround, but when that came up, a guy i worked with let me use a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house so i didn't have to drive back and forth while working 45 days straight. but thanks for telling me exactly what i spend in gas every month. telepathy has come a long way if you know my exact fuel economy, highway driving habits, and how much i paid for the gas per gallon.

How many tickets have you accrued in your properly driven Evo? Props to you for proving that the Evo is near bombproof. Btw, I drive like you, but lately I've been feeling like a reckless fool.
