I enjoy power and handling, you enjoy handling with no power. Sounds like you need a machine to match your abilities.
Good to see wut owners sticking to the stereotypes. Rather than continue this pointless debate of trying to show the blind, I'll simply say I for one am looking forward to this car, as is most of the automotive world, save for wut owners, apparently.

I agree, it's pointless to try and show the blind that having some power is fun and you don' t need to go WOT to tap all the power, but it's there if you want it. For this car to get up and go, it's WOT and then wait, wait, wait, wait...

Fair enough. I'm genuinely excited about this car, and I didn't think I'd ever say that about a car with less than 300 hp. It's just really hard to think about stepping down to something so slow.

I can definitely relate to those mentioning "feel" in this thread. If you compare an S2000 to a C5 Z06 on paper, it's no contest. I've driven both however, and I can say that the S2000 is just as much fun (if not more, due to its forgiving/predictable nature) than the C5 Z06 to drive hard. I'm sure people will disagree with me, but I'd say that argument is pretty analogous to the one we're having now.

This car only seems to be divisive to the gear-head crowd. I'm sure everyone else in the mainstream market will love it. I just hope that Toyota/Subaru will make a turbo version at some point to satisfy us.

.

The C5 Corvette is a bit unforgiving, but the C6 is much better, so it's more a chassis design issue than power that makes it less predictable. However, the massive amount of torque in the Corvette does take some skill to manage and is not for everyone. As for the BRZ/86 having more power, i never said it'll be great with glob's of power, but it'll be better balanced (power to weight) with a little more, such as 250bhp/200btq. Currently at 200bhp/150btq, it's under powered for it's weight. Even Road & Track claimed this car strained to go up hill.

Really? Where? The only thing I've read about it was the writer commenting how the engine was shoved back and down in such a way to make it nigh impossible for a factory turbo setup and that other special design considerations were made to position the engine this way for a low center of gravity. If swapping in a STi engine is easy, well that changes almost everything.

This is nice.....
Yeah, it is pretty, but somehow - to me, looking at a widebody ~$300,000 version of a car before any of us have a chance to drive it, epspecially when it has some engine totally different from what we'll get doesn't exactly give me any warm and fuzzies about this vehicle and what it can do.

If this is the case, which I thought that it would be, then I really need to stop visiting this thread and many like it around the interwebs. I really want one of these. It is a problem.

I'll have to see if I can find the article, I've read so many it may be difficult, but I remember it saying the design engineers made sure the bolt pattern was the same, so i guess that means that if there was room, you could drop something else in.

Some cool pics. The nose of this car is very LFA-ish.

I think thats based on the upcoming BRZ, not an impreza.

Edit: they have a concept BRZ STi, so you are still correct my friend!

Subaru Confirms Turbocharged Version of BRZ Engine

http://wot.motortrend.com/subaru-con...ne-143015.html

http://www.motorward.com/2011/12/sub...-in-the-works/

Quote from the second link:

"Now it becomes kinda clear why they started out with 200 hp for these cars. It is nowhere near enough for a well-sorted sports car as the 86 or the BRZ..."
