newer alternative to the Evo 8/9?
The only time the interior noise has ever really bothered the wife or I, is when we drove it from OKC to Galveston. Running about 85-90mph the whole way (so 4500-ish rpm in 5th), I was really wishing for a quieter exhaust or a 6th gear. Also made a good case for a 4.11 trans build lol.

the new awd focus rs has been delayed apparently beyond 2015. story is that ford europe is too busy getting ready to launch the ecoboost mustang in europe.

Just stumbled across some news that apparently there is going to be an AWD turbo Dodge Dart in a few years:

the MB CLA45 auto slushbox kills the AMG version. They compared it to a BMW M235.
I regret not buying a Evo X because my car is giving little issues that have been hard to diagnose and fix. After owning a IS300 for 5 years I was also seriously considering a IS-F. I still wonder if I made the wrong decision.
Oh well the next vehicle we've been looking at is the GL Blutec series from MB. I want an SUV and the wife wants luxury.

I would consider a new golf tdi.... With just the APR tune I am making 220whp and 300ftlb torque... Does not impress? How about all this with factory Recaro seats, 50mpg highway, twin clutch with paddle shifts and all at 2750lbs! No depreciation because diesel and 25k OTD after good negotiation..
Not as fast as the evo but makes an excellent DD..

very true. i have a couple of buds that got them (frs/brz) an they seam happy with them one is boosted 300 whp on dyno jet. got to drive it, it was real nice but he's having engine oil temp problems. to me 300 whp on the frs is perfect for how light the car is. but the evo is my dream car, need a better job lol
IMO, the Evo I-IX is great pretty much everwhere from auto-x, to the drag strip (i dunno why, but people do. 'Merica, i guess LOL), to road courses and rally. with real back seats.
i am on my second IX because i honestly can not find a car that makes me as happy. everything else i'd want to buy would be lacking in one dept or the other. i'd say maybe a X but they just don't have the same edge as the earlier versions. it would be like going back to my old WRX.
that is AWESOME. congrats.

I've been hearing reports that the BRZ/FRS is too fragile of a platform to abuse?
Anyone have any comments on this? I would assume it's the motor ringlands since everyone is trying to make more power...

the frs/brz are to new to tell right now but man they love boost!!! p-tuning one makes 400 whp on 14psi 93+ meth fuel upgrades (stock long block). but if u dont like boxer engine u can always put a 4g63 in!! but all that don't matter for daily driving it feels good . if i had money i would have my evo 6 TME for race and the frs for spirit driving/ dd lol i think in given time the frs/brz will be a player but the evo will always be king!!! IMO

I had a 2013 Golf TDI before I traded it on a 2013 Golf R.
That TDI was the most boring car I have ever owned. Spun it's front tires with any moisture on the ground, even at stock torque. It's not even CLOSE to a Evo or even a Golf R. However, it's more fun to drive then say... a Toyota Yaris. A stock VW CC out accelerates the TDI. It sure as hell isn't a newer alternative to a Evo 8/9, that's for sure. Not be any stretch of the imagination...
No depreciation? My Golf TDI depreciated almost 7k in four months. I took a huge bath on that thing to get out of it.
You'll *Maybe* get 50mpg hwy if you don't ever ever try to have fun with it. My average over 4 months and 4,513 miles was 36.51 mpg. Highest MPG of 41.57 which was all hwy at 525 miles.
Contrast that with my Golf R, with AWD and much more power and handling than the TDI, and I wouldn't have laughed as hard if you had said Golf R instead of TDI above. That averaged 21.11 mpg over 10,889 miles. Highest MPG of 26.18 which was all hwy at 339 miles.
The USDM seats are plain old normal style seats:

The USDM Golf R (same as GTi with leather sport option) seats felt much better and sportier to me:

Euro Golf R Recaro seat option:

i'm surprised the BRZ/FRS likes boost considering it's compression ratio is so high. our DOHC Honda engines LOVED it but they were only 10.6:1. anyway..great cars.. i'm just not a fan of their engines.
