If it really is limited produced, then good!
It would save me from getting a 20k loan.
Honestly, limited production for this car is a ****ing stupid idea, I don't care about rarity.
A car like this is meant to run, and running a car wears down parts. The whole car is a wear and tear item. Imagine how expensive to maintain the RS if it is limited produced.

I recently have been racing my 1/10 touring car on a local track.
One thing I learnt from racing my car is, if you wanna race certain chassis, you better make sure parts are widely available and cheap to get for it.

Estimated life of Cup 2 tires in drift mode?!

I like the review but I guess Ford forbade 5th wheel tests?

Any head to head comparison videos out yet? Ideally vs. STI/Golf R/CTR.

""Ford says the RS was designed to handle half an hour of continuous punishment, be that in Drift mode or Track. That sounds reassuring, but when we went out for our first few laps on the track, my car gave me an engine warning message before limiting the revs, while Bill Caswell retired his with an AWD issue. Tyrone Johnson said the diffs can’t overheat, another Ford guy at the pits told us the complete opposite. It seemed fair to believe him instead.

Our second cars worked perfectly fine, but Ford admits that the RS’s Twinster system is pretty close to its limits handling 350 horses and 350 foot pounds already, so in case you’re planning to go aftermarket and increase the power further without beefing up the drivetrain, expect to get some shredded metal with your voided warranty."

any production car should be able to take 30 mins of hard driving with ease as far as the drive line is concerned with stock power. the fact that its almost maxed out at that power has me worried about long term track use, even with stock power...

the 2 parts of a stock car that in my book is passable to not take 30 mins of abuse are oil temps and brakes. it'd be pretty awesome if oem pads can take that kinda pounding... but the whole driveline thing has be a bit worried... but then again, I'm not gonna be buying one, so its ok

Mod happy people will figure out how to put a regular mechanical rear diff in it (like an Evo 9) if its truly an issue. Just like companies are developing solid axle swaps for the 2015 mustang already. Keeping mind, the ct9a transmission is rated at whopping 300lb-ft of torque (or something like that). Manufacturers always under rate things.

As a far as it being "maxed out" at stock power. Yes, its maxed out to be able to go 200k miles. Or however many miles/cycles Ford deemed their "reliability" point.

Why don't acd and ayc clutches seem to die? What's the design limit for evo x?

Actually ACD is known to fail under high hp track use. Some track X's even run a IX rear diff.

why the hell would you put a live axle in a S550 mustang? just buy an '11+ S197... its the same engine save the intake mani... (not saying you specifically, just whoever is actually doing this)

yeah, but the guy in the article said there was a car having issues already... I mean sure its a press car thats beat on... but thats what a track car will be, just spread out a bit further. and the fact that one of the engineers said that "it can't overheat" (is it the same guy that said the intercooler is too cool?) while the other said they can... its gonna be fun getting warranty coverage on that...

but seriously, why would you put a live axel in the new mustang? ugh, I have a perfectly good s197 '14 for sale if anyone wants to do that...

I don't think the RS was designed to be a "track car". I think it was designed to be a car that you can drive at the track every once in a while. If you plan on abusing the car regularly, you have to expect reduced reliability.
