The newest SVT is over 12 years old and yes for a car that I bought brand new for $16500 (after rebates) back in 2003, it held it's value extremely well. Still very desirable car to boot as I have had a few used ones over the years and they never sit for sale long. Price point of course plays into that big time as well.
The ST is doing about as well as I suspected and again being on par with a GTI is holding it's value damn well along with the Fiesta ST. There are enough people interested in it that they do no sit very long either. While I'm not every interested in either, they have sold extremely well, there is no arguing that.
Those two examples you found are perfect examples of people assuming their cars are worth more than they really are. Neither is worth even close to their asking price(s).
Further more the MSRP of the 2003 evo vs the 2003 SVTF is not even close. 10 grand separates the two. You don't put a Camry in a contest with a BMW.
I'm with you though, I am hoping the RS launches and succeeds, few car makers are putting out manual race cars these days and I'm hoping this sparks a little revival.
this thing looks like a beast. will have more standard HP, newer convenience features like heated steering wheel, more trunk space, better interior, pretty sweet drivetrain, list goes on.
This is what I hate about hype and cars that don't come out until a year or more after the press release.
don't get me wrong, i love my X, but there are so many things that are left to be desired now that i'm older. if i can get more for the same money, plus have it be faster, why not? i know it's still unproven, but if the last gen fwd focus RS was any indication, ford will hit this one out of the park.

You hit on all my points and reasons for wanting one exactly.
If the last RS would have been sold new stateside, it would have been in my garage.
I feel like im he only one who finds that thing hideous. It's absolutely gross, plus I don't like hatchbacks at all.
Nope it's ugly as sin. Hunchbacks are just not my cup of tea let alone a $40k plus hunchback with a catfish grill. It really reminds me of the dark days of the WRX (egg) when it wasn't widebody, I think it was from 08-10. Besides the front catfish grill the car just does not look aggressive to me.
I hate the clown car wheels on most new cars. There's just no reason for a 19" wheel on any car, unless you have 18" brake rotors. I keep hoping the bigger is better mentality will die a painful, rapid death, but it seems to continue unabated.
looking at the vid at the bottom of this page (http://www.autoblog.com/2015/03/25/f...-york/#image-1), caliper to wheel barrel clearance looks pretty low... certain 18" wheels with bigger barrel diameter may fit over the stock brakes... if 18's do fit, I think it'll look pretty awesome with some wide tires with a meaty sidewall on it... personally I've never been a fan of the rubberband tire look
It looks good and very tempting to switchover to Ford but will wait for 2017 or 2018 model. When I search Ford quality thru google and youtube, they seem to be having problems with their eco boost direct injection engines It seems to be loosing power and some are getting carbon buildup . I know it's the Truck engine that's having those issues and I hope the RS don't have that kind of problem I would still wait for version 2 before deciding on one.
Looks like Polestar Volvo blue to me. I liked the promo color liquid blue allot better. Will the RS be allowed to top the current model Mustang GT in performance? Should be interesting. I know the new GT350 and GT350R models look like Ford's 500 HP track models. If so..will a RS cost more then a trac-pak optioned GT model? Ford has allot to consider.
