This happens with every cool car with every dealer network when they're first released.

Remember the crazy Evo mark-ups? lol

I remember, in 2003, our local dealerships wouldn't even let anyone test drive one. They told everyone, "People are buying them sight unseen. We don't have to give test drives". LOL. And if you looked under 30yrs old, they wouldn't even give you the time of day.
Or maybe our dealership was full of stuck-up sales persons... which could be the case.

MRs were marked up $10,000 when they first made it to Canada. They also required a $5000 deposit just to test drive.

Yea I was going to say, every new hot car is like this.

The MK6 Golf R was the same way (and the MK7 Golf R is currently).

The MK6 Golf R had 5-10k markups, idiots where paying them. Three months later, I was getting quotes from 4 dealers for $500 above invoice. Next day I was driving off with a brand new MK6 Golf R that I purchased at invoice.

It also happened recently with the Evo 10 Final Edition. Crazy markups, people paying it.

Now you can get them at invoice. lol

I once bought a like-new Mustang with 6000 miles on it because the buyer changed their mind. How awesome would it be to find an RS the same way? LOL

this one really blows my mind... all it gets you is badges and a different tune (which will be replaced by a real tune anyway but 98% of owners). and in the US no Recaro's compared to a used Evo

I bought my 2005 Evo 8 MR in 2005 with 500 miles on it. The owner had a new vette on order, got tired of waiting for it, purchased the MR, then the vette came in so traded in the MR. (or so the dealer says)

Either way I got a basically brand new 500 mile MR for 4k under what a actual brand new MR was going for at the time. The tires still had the mold knobbies on them.

I snatched that thing up quick like!

It's gonna happen. I'm telling you. You just need to be prepared to act quickly when it does. Have financing in order, etc.

I know it's not an in demand car, but when I found my 335' unicorn (2007 with less than 27,000 miles a few years ago), I drove down the next day to see it. You gotta act quick when you find a deal like in real estate

Yep, exactly. I've been offered two at MSRP already. Watch the forums and be mindful that you'll have to act fast.

If you take emotion out of the car buying experience, you would be surprised at what kind of deals you can get...

I've literally bought my last five cars at invoice or below.

Because you are more patient and less willing to over pay; you're far less likely to make a poor decision. Plus the salesman doesn't see you're all geeked out over the car.
