I just did the math. If i sell my Evo right now and *could* find an RS for sale, I'd be looking at a $440 payment or $550, if i wanted a shorter term. I have yet to check on insurance.
or
I could buy an R32 GTR for $400/mo
That's actually a tough choice for me LOL. Only because I'm crazy enough to pay $400/mo for a 25yr old car. I just don't know if AAA would insure it.
For, insurance on the RS was $100/month full coverage. My EVO is $120.
I was all excited for the rs last year when i heard about it. until i saw the price tag.
and the last few days ive been hearing some rumors the drivetrain cant take the stock power? i hope thats not true, that would really suck.
either way, my evo is still keeping me entertained so hopefully ill grab up a rs in 4-5 years when the prices are a little more reasonable.

I think that's a little crazy, but if it is just a toy/pleasure vehicle then why not? Stuff is bound to break though.
So here is an interesting comparison. A fairly fast driver at our local region ran his bone stock Focus RS in B-Street yesterday (had 702 miles on the odo ). Watch for yourself how it did against my X:
The RS was on OEM Pilot Sports Cup 2 tires (180 wear?). My X has RE71R tires with adjustable CIRO front sway bar brackets (OEM sway bar).
My tires are one year old, have 141 runs (many on very abrasive surfaces) and are completely beat. That said, I didn't feel they were down on grip much.

My butt dyno tells me that my new Focus RS is severely torque limited in first and second gear, which definitely would effect those times as well as ET. That's my assumption on why reflashed cars are so much faster. 3rd and 4th are much stronger from the small number of miles I've put on he car this weekend.
Overall the focus RS compares very favorably to the evo8 RS that I ran all those years. Stock for stock the evo had a better steering wheel but not much else. I'm really surprised that I like he ford seats as much as I do.

Hi all new to the forum. I recently picked up a EVO IX RS and passed up on two Focus RS cars locally here in Las Vegas. I know the Focus RS is a cool car and with a little time and tuning I'm sure it will live up to the hype so many people are expecting it to. I just couldn't see the point of buying this car and had a gut feeling it was going to disappoint. I'm a previous ST owner and avid autocrosser. The FoRS is similar to the EVO on weight distribution 60/40 and set up like a FWD car. A lot of computer AIDS etc to help you go fast around a course etc. I do like the blue color in the RS and recently autocrossed against one and the driver did well but no contest to the EVO IX. I think that 2.3L RS will have build potential but still like the EVO IX way more.
A comment to why Ins is cheaper for the RS is Saftey rating is way higher than an EVO or that's what the Ins company shared with me.
From what I've read a lot of people who own the car have been hitting Dynos and getting poor numbers, around 250 whp. Not bad but not what a lot were expecting. Cobb, Mountune are working on tunes for these cars and getting nice results. I guess we will have to wait and see.
Speaking of mark up I'd pay, just got a phone call from a dealer who has a VIN, car is supposedly on the boat. Nitrous blue with forged wheel upgrade, $1k mark up puts it at 39,900 plus tax. Well I'll be....
