Ford has filed a patent for an artificial engine-noise system that makes it sound like there are more cylinders at work – not for “go fast” purposes, however, but to save fuel. According to the manufacturer, the new technology would improve fuel efficiency by encouraging the driver to shift gears lower in the rev range.

Same article, one paragraph later..
"On the flip side, Ford’s performance models such as the Mustang pony car and Focus RS hot hatch fitted with the larger 2.3-litre Ecoboost engine already feature a version of artificial sound producing tech, but this is used more to enhance the driving experience rather than encourage drivers to save fuel."

Doesn't seem bad to me. Kinda interesting actually. Since you're posting here, I guess its implemented in the RS?

Same technology rebranded as either "fuel saving" or to "increase driver experience." Imo fake engine sounds are silly.

RS currently has something similar but this might be implemented as a future "feature".

I am not sure if that is right, I see they do measure the engine hp, so is this stock , or they "gained" 28 hp with what ( based on the 350 engine hp number)? or what is the base number? Any info on these?

Looks like they are playing around with the tune a couple times. Probably the lowest
curve is stock. Torque definitely comes on early and holds well ( 1st and lowest curve). Playing around they got close to 400 ft/lb peak.

Rudimentary stuff but looks promising. Motor sounds gutsy and responsive.

Looks like stock redline is at 6500RPM, I would like a bit more (although I'm not one to rev to the moon lol).

That engine and exhaust note is different. Not convinced if I love it yet, but it sounds unique.

Base and after is right there on the chart they show and I'm assuming base is stock. Either way there are gains. Looks like approx 50hp gained at 5300rpm and approx 70tq (converted from newton meters) gained at 2800rpm and 4000rpm.

Superflow dyno measures wheel hp (it's right there in the video) and 'calculates' engine hp from there. I put that in quotes because without an engine on an engine dyno, it's not really 'engine power' shown.
