Focus RS
I do not like the RS, I openly admit that. I think Ford played it too safe. I also think the Evo will be a better performance platform and have explained why I believe that.
I then asked people that do like it, to explain why. I guess I should have clarified, why do people think it will be a good "performance" car?

I wonder if the first AWD car that had a real center diff with a VCU instead of a locked transfercase (like a 4wd truck) was shunned as not being "full time" AWD...lol
I thought that the wrx and Sti interior and creature comforts were much better than Mitsubishis but to each his own I guess.
I did lots of long trips in both and would definitely say its preferred for me over the evo 8/9 and about par with the X.
The RS will be cheap in a few years then we can all have some fun.

every active member in this thread has explained to you why we like it; over and over again. we have also explained why we think it will perform well.
If ford tried to sell a stripped out **** box to make you happy, people like you would be the only to buy the car. And they would lose a lot of FoRS sales to the Mustang. 99% of people that walk into a dealership aren't looking for a car like the Evo. They're looking for a car that is fun to drive with good power, creature comforts, and (maybe) good handling and brakes. Hell, with how big drag racing is for Evo's, one could argue a lot Evo buyers didn't even care that much about the handling.
to be fair, it's not a fanboi thread, so i'd imagine we should also welcome criticism, IMO.
Criticism is fine, and appreciated it, but when you admit to not liking the car, and you're just repeating the same stuff, and making us misinformation to bring the car down, maybe you need to step back and stop posting.
I had an 06 STI. I suppose the interior was nicer than the 2003 Lancer I had, but it wasn't particularly well equipped. It wasn't bad for 2006, but for 2016, it would be considered abysmal.

that's why i ask what kind of answers, exactly, he was looking for.

Or throwing out an argument, having it get rejected, then just changing tunes. It appears that the RS needs to basically obliterate every car out there, while costing next to nothing, to be a "worthy" Evo contender.

i see the argument that the RS has gone soft. compared to what it used to be, i suppose. does the new car do the badge justice? we'll see.
i think it's odd that all these high-performance cars are coming out with BluTooth, leather, navigation, etc... but i'm old-school and the public isn't happy unless a car has "more". so, it is what it is and i'll evaluate it as such.. and as such, i really like the RS.
maybe they will come out with a track version like they the did the GT350r. that should quiet a few people (and be totally awesome at the same time).
I like the fact that you can have performance, without giving up too much creature comforts. If I want something raw, I'll drive my 1990 Miata with no AC, no ABS, no traction control, and sometimes no roof. When driving to work and back, I want something that won't punish my lower back, won't give me a headache on long drives, and can still get up and move when I want it to.

The RS sound right up my alley.
And it will probably own most cars in it's price range and slightly above.
Win/win.
The hard-core guys can always strip it down and shave weight.
because that's what the Evo did? oh, wait..

I love it and it's totally capable on the track.
My Evo 8 had none of that and it got old, more as I got older.

Not to start another internet cry fest, but I'm within 1 sec of my Evo 8 on the same track, with less mods, with my Evo 10.
Not green to tracking either, been doing it for 15 years now and instructed for five of those.

My Evo 10 has cruise control, leather, bluetooth, sunroof and a bunch of speakers and subwoofer in the trunk.

Probably not, but doing donuts in the parking lot after I win would be fun.
