planning to keep it stock or do stuff to it? track days or autox?
Oh I'm voiding this warranty as soon as possible. I just have to wait on some time to free up and see if my favorite tuner wants to play with this platform.

Disclaimer: I know modding a car doesn't necessarily void a warranty... Let's not jump down that rabbit hole.

FYI, if these cars use the same or similar PTO unit to send power aft as the other ford vehicles (like the explorer), change the fluid in semi-frequently. My dad works for the City of NLV, he's one of mechanics for the police fleet and they have had to warranty 10 of the AWD PTO's already at around 30k miles. He said they only hold 18oz of fluid, and ford claims its a lifetime fill. Well, when they drain fluid it comes out like molasses...lol.

sadly, i replaced the X. I wasn't too fond of the SST, after I bought it. I love the car, and I love the community. I want to get into an 8 or 9 at some point.

That power take off unit is indeed taking some rest time.

what does it do exactly? google says "a device that transfers mechanical power from an engine to another piece of equipment"

so how is that different than a driveshaft?

sorry for ignorant questions

A pto is the unit that sends power out of a trans perpendicular to the direction the trans usually sends power. So, the FoRS has a transverse engine/trans, it sends power left and right to the front wheels. The PTO is an additional gear set that send the power to the rear diff. Basically, its the "transfercase".

I just did the math. If i sell my Evo right now and *could* find an RS for sale, I'd be looking at a $440 payment or $550, if i wanted a shorter term. I have yet to check on insurance.
or
I could buy an R32 GTR for $400/mo

That's actually a tough choice for me LOL. Only because I'm crazy enough to pay $400/mo for a 25yr old car. I just don't know if AAA would insure it.

from a 2014 evo mr to a 2016 rs, my insurance rates went up $0.70 every 6 months. it was kinda negligible for me.

Mine is an '06 so hopefully not too bad considering how people drive them, etc LOL. I pay a lot already, couldn't be much more.

The way to go is have a cheap DD (I have an 2003 Focus) and then insure the evo/GTR/whatever for a set amount through Hagerty or American Collectors Insurance. If you do not drive your "collectors" cars very many miles per year, the rates are great. Plus then you know exactly what an insurance payout would be if the car is ever stolen or totalled. You would probably have to fight pretty hard with most 'normal' insurance companies to get a true market value payout on an Evo 9, given how low the NADA on them is.

I tried that with the Evo, but they said I'd be limited to less than 5k miles. LOL. F that. I'm not buying an RS and parking it. Buying a car to not drive isn't for me. I'm not that baller.
