"I'm going to leave it stock"

When was this actually ever successfully done by an auto enthusiast?

I've probably said this 4x in my life and was unsuccessful every time. hahah. Let's be honest with ourselves.

I wouldn't do anything that voids warranty. I'm tired of the hassle. Modern cars are quick enough that they don't need much, IMO. I have the Evo, if I want to mod anything. If the RS was purchased to replace the Evo......well I wouldn't do that LOL
If the RS replaced my Civic as the daily, then it would stay stock as **** LOL.
i don't think I'd ever mod a brand new car. That's probably why I always buy used.

After driving the EvO around, I would never daily another car like that. I like a quiet, comfortable ride. I'm 42 years old. No more LOL

Wait, we're basing this discussion on the 0.001% of people who modify their car? Really?

Even if you're talking strictly about the (minuscule) subset of enthusiasts, outside of a handful of cars (evo, sti, etc), most cars don't get modded.

And when it comes to shopping... well let's just say more people are shopping to a monthly payment than they are to anything resembling MSRP or cost.

My EVO never was a daily, but I agree it would get old real fast for the pure reason they rev about 1000 RPM higher on the highway than most new cars. I wasn't able to find the RS true highway final drive, but it almost appeared by some articles it had a different gear "diff" ratio for 1-4 and 5/6 (not jsut overdrives for 5/6). This true?

The discussion was that due to current availability and desirability of both cars, you could take a new 2015 EVO, add the 5 grand in true current average transaction prices, and it would blow the doors off the RS (in straight line speed for sure, possibly never in handling on tight slower tracks due to RS unique drivetrain).

The argument that SUGGESTED sticker price being the only way to compare two vehicles, will never fly. The actual price of the vehicles could make some buyers not be able to compare them at all (right now, today), strictly on price

I will readily admit you also void warantee on EVO and it could be as bad as not even having a warantee on EVO as Mitsu may not be around til end of warantee. Also, Ford is on it's way up in the perf car game and mistu gave up completely. Which car will have more support going forward is a no brainer

It does sound like the RS may HAVE to have at least minimal mods and/or tuning if you want to track it for any length of time. Ford is pretty stingy with their perf car, mods, and warantee, so not sure how that is going to work out.

I did just hear on the fusion2G board that a guy blew engine, removed tune and got a new motor under warantee, but on a car like that (it wasn't even a fusion sport), they probably didn't even bother to check if it was tuned.

I think most would be surprised at the number who do tune only, since it is so easy, really makes a difference (on turbo fords, thats for sure), and extremely safe these days..............

I can respect your decision on keeping the RS stock. I drove it and was a passenger in one (also owned an st) I didn't see myself having much fun modifying the rs. It's a great car and a blast to drive but the evo is just much more raw in the sense of customizing. I would for many reasons take the money it would cost for an rs and buy a new evo and use the left over for bolt on hands down. For a daily tho sure rs all day long. Only if I had to keep it stock since it does give u your performance but it will never give you that feeling an evo gives u. I could even tell that the owner (previous evo 8 owner) was not very happy with the car. He never said he regretted buying it but he did say it will never replace the evo. I felt bad for him cause even after the 1k mile break in period he just didn't have much excitement driving it. My guess on thag is because it again just doesn't give u that feeling of ever being more then it really easy. His plans were to keep it stock as well.

A few downsides I saw in the rs tho were the ugly factory gauges above the center console. (Zero room for customization there)
The dash is absolutly MASSIVE when being a passenger I felt like I was at a dinner table. Which also made the view to the road a bit awkward.
Pretty sure there are only brembos on the front. I had noticed the rear calipers we re not labeled brembos like the evos is. I could be wrong tho.
He tired to make the exhaust pop in sport mode which it never did so that was kinda disappointing.

Putting effort into silly comparisons?

Modded Evo X vs. GT-R. What if it was a MR?

Why is it a silly comparison? If you're doing stock vs modded, why is modded Evo vs GTR any more ridiculous than modded evo vs stock FoRS?

In that case, I know of a Civic that traps 200mph. Let's put that up against a GTR with the same amount of money dumped into it. I betcha the civic is faster in a drag race, not that it matters.
Let's just go all crazy with our comparisons.

Unless you have unlimited funds, I just don't see any car being that much fun compared to what you could get for that money.
