Focus RS
stock to stock
Ambstorm01, have you had an opportunity to drive a GT3 or GT3 RS? 996, 997 or 991, either.
I have. Properly setup cars.
Guess what:
They rattle, they are noisy, they are harsh, and they are simple.
Somewhat upmarket from Evo..but once you drive them...you find that up to 5000rpm the Evo is significantly faster, and than Gt3 is faster stock to stock.
But if Evo is moderately "optimized", say Reflash/Cams+Ohlins, its very close, bolt up HKS7460 and Evo is faster car..by little.
The highlight of this is however not the power, but the confidence and ease with which Evo can be driven compared to 996/997 GT3/RS.
Perhaps you know all this, than I am surprised you see them as being so different.
They are polar opposites, yet they perform so similarly its shocking when you discover it in real world.
OK, neither is subject of this discussion..again..you are so insistent on something ..I am compelled to bring arguments because I experienced them and was at first shocked by the finding.
Signing off, I am not here to preach..only to share on occasion, and happy to keep quiet.
Its about the driving for me.

Orthojoe (Joe) is hardly newby to Thunderhill and other tracks, he is far above "average": he owns each GT3/RS/Spyder generation example.
And methodical since Evo and FRS days.
So his 1.58s in 991...its easy to see why...991 is significantly easier to drive than his 997 GT3..

I never said Joe was a newbie and I gave data points of his Evo and his two porsches on the same track.
A stock Evo is faster than a 991 GT3?
this thread is seriously an alternate dimension.

This particular section used to be called "Other Cars", because it was designed for discussion about other cars. There is no reason to discuss how the Evo stacks up against a Porsche in a thread about the Focus RS.
The Evo and this board will die soon enough. What's wrong with this little watering hole as a gathering place? After all, the RS is like the heir to the affordable "awd" crown. I'm assuming Subaru doesn't really care to compete because they are selling everything they make these days.
One was 6 to 8 grand cheaper and many might consider the cheaper car, with some bolt on mods, as the way to go.
You obviously don't like that comparison, making ridiculous comparison of some POS that you put 20 grand into. Very few would or could make that comparison, as you are talking a major build with the POS (few have even the knowledge, let alone ability to tackle that build).
So you would like a safe space to do so?

I had a very legitimate comparison of two EXTREMELY SIMILAR, BRAND NEW cars, of which 90%+ would cross shop.

Ecoboost gets a boost. There is a replacement for displacement.
