Focus RS
I finally got to drive one this weekend over a trip to cali... its a decent car but not quite up to the hype.
- Quick but not fast
- Stable but its more like handicap stable versus raw stable
- Oddly is kinda unnaturally 'noisey'
- body styling is as vanilla as it gets
Fun car overall that wont get too much attention from the 5-0 and seems like it will be wicked if there is some good aftermarket support. It feels like a juiced up audi s3/s4 versus a sti/evo competition offering.
Just my perspective guys you can have yours as well.

I was at a local autocross event where I saw one turn a noob driver into one capable of turning relatively decent times. Obviously, the guy would have been faster had he been a decent driver. But wow, the car really did a lot of work for him. It was similar to what a GTR does on the road course: An unexperienced driver can hop in and do fairly decent.
I have to think all of that vectoring would become a handicap to those of us who drive the car more on the edge ( as opposed to over it) . It's hard to find that balance when the ECU is cutting in and making a car do unpredictable things.

That's why I'm keeping the EVO. Just the torque management nannies are enough on my DD AWD fusion. What a PIA it must be when you want to start changing up suspension at all, when EVERYTHING is programmed around the stock setup.
Taking your post into consideration, imagine how angry that ecu might get LOL.
I wonder if learning the car would help. I have to think it's ultimately slower, no matter what. There's guy I know who races a GTR with no nannies. I don't even think it's AWD. Not sure if it's due to class rules, though.

Sir that right there is dangerous and another great reason for me not to get one lol.
I'm going to say though that those electronic aids will allow most people here to probably drive faster and/or more safely in all conditions on the road where conditions and surfaces are much more variable.
There are some very skilled bros on here and very likely can and do turn off most, if not all, electronic aids on controlled track conditions.

Is it faster 10 years from now when the torque vectoring is "vectoring" all the time.
Try to explain that one to the dealer, or even diagnose that it is really happening.
I'm a ford diehard all the way, but I realize there reliability after the extended warantee
is not going to be that great. My 15 fusion had a weird gremlin where the left rear window would roll halfway down, whenever it felt like it. You could not roll it back up sometimes, it would just go back to halfway down. Finally I disconnected and re-attached battery real fast, over and over as window was going down and that reset "something".

I find it curious that R&T tracked their RS at Nelson Ledges all day..without car resorting to FWD as all others have reported.
I am very very skeptical of continuing "fan-boy" reports- as some have called them, when even Matt Farrah and AMS both are selling their RS's after brief fling.
Look at the 1/4 mile time, 13.4seconds at 103 miles per hr.
Honestly...with M3M4 trapping in high teens, and "proper Evo" nowadays doing mid 120's or even 130 in quarter mile...without issues of rear diff being disengaged, and car going FWD...
its a nice DD/Sporty car, but I don't see it at all as being this new amazing performance sedan.

I saw one of my friend this week , and he has a RS. we talked and played around a bit. Its a nice car and sounds good. I still think the body desperately needs a wide body and the louvers on the hood as all previous RS had it. The rear brakes still bugging me .
Anyhow i am sure this car is a perfect as a low, and mid level enthusiast car. But when you start going to more deeper in Motorsport , so far (hope will change) doesnt look as good option as let say the new STI. (if you want to buy a new platform for AWD turbo for motorsport)

What is a "proper Evo"? A stock Evo won't trap 130 mph in the 1/4 mile.
