Focus RS
Sorry, I must have misunderstood
Seems like most of you on this lengthy thread are touting some perceived virtues of this Ford offering.
If your're not planning on getting one, I understand. I dont want one either
After the EVO, if there is another, I plan on moving up on the food chain, not down

The even better part was the open source tuning stuff for the evo wasn't even that great until tephra really took off with it. Guys love to reference how the Evo is a simple 100hp gain with bolt on and a tune. Well, it wasn't like that in 2004 right after they came out...lol

But there was and are other tools before and after to make Evo tunes etc great.

lol maybe with the open source.... evo was great since day one for the time where they were released. also they always had a great potential, evos was known for that since they hit the road. Open source was a stollen ecuteck softwere( i think russians cracked it) I think around 2003 or so.

EcuFlash came out in 2005 as a command line interface. The first actual GUI version was late 2005.
You are thinking of the EcuEdit accusation, which isn't even OS.
Here is some light reading to help you move beyond ignorance: http://www.romraider.com/RomRaider/R...ourceCommunity
The OS tools have created a far superior product compared, and EcuTek keeps trying to lump them in with EcuEdit because OS has taken a ton of market share from them. Imagine that, build a more accessible, extendable and superior product and it takes away market share from a competing product...

I have no doubt that if you compare the level of tuning sophistication and understanding now to what was available in 2003, it'd be a night and day difference. ****, I remember people on here claiming the STI was untunable and maxed out from the factory from 2004 to about 2010. Now guys are seeing gains of 100 ft-lbs of torque with a downpipe and tune. Same with the Evo. The gains are massive, thanks to a better understandable of the software and the hardware needs.
