Yeah, stock conv kills 60', but I only had 3 passes ever in it with a crappy DA
It went a best of 12.72 on the first pass ever. So if you ran that 12.5 on
your first pass (and backed it up with another 12.5 or 12.6 for the next 2 passes),
then, yes that is really good.
Installed and tuned, right here for that kind of money
But, I do all my own work. Kit is $3850. Tune locally is $800. BAP, X, Wrap, Inj, about a grand.
Have 15" DR's kicking around, so a couple rims. Maybe some rear arms.
Even if I need converter, I'm still under 8. And if you are into stangs, you know
you can get a lot of stuff used for spit, compared to buying jap car parts.
Anyway, 14 grand sounds like a guy who drops the car at a shop. Picks it up
and can't drive, so goes back 3 or 4 more times to keep adding stuff
he didn't need to begin with.
there's always stuff that comes up and ends up nickel and dime'ing you to death... maybe not double, but its always a decent chunk more than the original budget.
so not to feed this whole evo vs everything fire, just strictly commenting on this vid... 2 things
the Evo had a decent bit of understeer, visible from the outside, which most likely means it pushed quite a bit from the drivers seat. given that it has adjustable suspension, it prolly could have been tuned out and gained that 1/10th back from the GT-R

Here's an excerpt from the article that goes with the video:
"...Whereas our Evo demands a driver willing to coax a lot of slip angle at both ends of the car for the quickest result, the GT-R rewards a more conservative driving style and is ultimately easier to drive fast. And it is a phenomenally rapid thing. Again from the test driver's notebook: "It's benign compared to the Evo. The GT-R is fast but frustrating in many places. It understeers where the Evo rotates, bogs where the Evo explodes. Yet it still has enough power and grip to rip off a lap 0.1-second quicker than Project Evo..."
On an aside I love these Best Motoring youtube videos that have a ton of stock Evo X's being thrashed against all types of competition. I like the Evolution X S-AWC test video the most though.

and I sure did back it up
Pretty impressive............... Sucks I've seen the new SS's run 11.8's bone stock (if your any kind of ford fan), but I guess it will push Ford harder.
Back on topic...................... This is the same problem I had on my escape,

haha, I guess I was way off with the understeer comment...
The Best Motoring vid you posted wasn't exactly against any stiff competition. If I had to guess which would be fastest around a track out of those 4, my guess would go to the Evo. Unless its a really tight kart track or something, then prolly the Elise.

Not the end of the world, but still annoying ford lets this type of stuff go on for years.
The new Camaro's are really impressive, even more so in the handling department than 1/4 mile. Only thing I can't swallow is how the rear end looks... everytime I see it, I just think boring pedestrian Malibu, not any sort of sports car. I think if I were to buy a new car right now, it'd prolly be a Camaro
I wouldn't say I'm a Ford fan, I'm not loyal to any manufacturer. I judge every car by itself regardless who makes it. Except Korean cars, I don't like Korean cars (and yes, I know Hyundai makes the 4B11). Although Hyundai's upcoming mid engine car has my attention...

I guess it depends how aggressively you drive it. I haven't spent time on a racetrack so I am much less aggressive and unsure of myself at those higher (faster) levels. So I guess an experienced driver could be more aggressive and drive around the Evo X understeer.
And I have been tempted by the goodness of the Camaro SS 1LE. I like that the whole package is very focused.

Is there a 1LE of the new Camaro already? nothing on the chevy website...
yes, Google "2017 Camaro SS 1le". Mostly/completely rave reviews.
found it... after looking at the parts it includes I think I'd pass actually. The only parts out of that I'd want is the trans and diff cooler, all the other upgrades I prefer to go aftermarket. Except maybe the brakes, but those are available on non 1LE packages as well. And I'm sure I could buy the trans and diff cooler from GM separately.
The biggest thing I don't like are the giant 20" wheels. It means expensive and limited options for tires. and with the weight of the car, it goes through lots of tires with track use. I wonder if the brakes would fit inside 18's, or at least 19's

I think the intended use for 1LE is to use as is. In that use I think the Magnetic Shocks eDiff have a good synergy. The price difference to the SS buys a lot of parts and in that case you can spend on what exactly tickles your fancy.
I just noticed Ford released information today on the 2018 Fiesta which looks to be a bit bigger. I assume the next Focus will be bigger/fatter also.

The problem is huge, and that it has equally huge wheel wells/fender openings. They look silly with smaller wheels.
The smaller set would be track only wheels, so don't really care about what it looks like at the track...

If it was the Multimatic Spool Valve shocks like the prev gen Z28 had, they would have me sold. But simply Magnetic shocks aren't that special. I could get something better for me (aka, more track focused) in the aftermarket for about the same money.
I missed the part about the eDiff, thought it was just a regular LSD. That might change things as far as my preferences go depending on 1LE vs a standard SS depending on how much the eDiff is as a stand alone purchase from GM.
but I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm too far down the rabbit hole with my Miata to switch track cars...
