Focus RS
the auto on and off is just as annoying as the automatic windshield wipers for example. I always turn it off when I drive a car which have one. And I do drive a lot of those ( i typically renting German cars)
Makes 0 sense in stop and go traffic which doesn't stay stationary over 1-2 minutes. ( I am not a green guy when it comes down to cars like that. I love nature but I hate Prius and stupid stuff like that auto start and off).
It does make some sense when you drive around in a less populated city.
Good thing about these "features" from factory its an easy shut off, so I am sure they knew most people hate it . lolololololol Also they do know makes million times less sense like the Catalityc converter....

This thread is still going strong I see, lol. Why even talk about a part-time awd Ford when there may be a mid-engine rear wheel drive Hyundai on the horizon http://www.autoblog.com/2016/10/24/h...to-mid-engine/

My irritation with stop/start comes at any traffic light. Every driver of an automatic transmission vehicle has to creep forward anticipating the light change. I've seen people halfway out in the intersection by the time the light is green. How many autostarts would that be at the typical light?
A friend of mine was in the market for a new Mercedes. He is a dedicated light creeper. On a test drive he encountered autostart at the first light and that burned the deal down.

The smaller set would be track only wheels, so don't really care about what it looks like at the track...
If it was the Multimatic Spool Valve shocks like the prev gen Z28 had, they would have me sold. But simply Magnetic shocks aren't that special. I could get something better for me (aka, more track focused) in the aftermarket for about the same money.
I missed the part about the eDiff, thought it was just a regular LSD. That might change things as far as my preferences go depending on 1LE vs a standard SS depending on how much the eDiff is as a stand alone purchase from GM.
but I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm too far down the rabbit hole with my Miata to switch track cars...

Crazy amount of coolers in that car (and @ 62 G's, appears to be a smokin deal).
Interesting (but long) thread on a passive RDU cooler (not so much on the cooler, but the theorized info on RDU temps). It does not seem that anyone has concrete info on how the ECU even knows what RDU temp really is.

Test that it does know @ post 88

Cobb said the Focus RDU is good for 700 ft.lbs? I find that a little hard to believe. But, who knows... maybe if the always running/slipping clutches can get it there.
There was this bit:
"...I posed the sensor question to the GKN engineer over ar NASIOC. Here's his reply:
Quote:
It's a combination of sensors and models. How it works is intellectual property. Not that I think what the RS is doing is much different from any other active system out there, but I don't know how BorgWarner, Magna, ZF, and others deal with temperatures in their products. It's always easier to have a sensor for everything, but then removing a sensor can save $20 per part and depending on the volume that can be huge. We removed a sensor in a different program and saved $25 per part over a volume of 350k per year, so it cut nearly $9m out of a program.
I thought that was not a very helpful response; until I realized, if there were a dedicated RDU temp sensor, you wouldn't need "...a combination of sensors and models..." "
I'm sure GKN will be of no help in the how's and why's of their engineering black magic for all these systems, past and present. I think the short of it is the cooling system needs upgrades and the Magic needs to be cracked for intense and/or high horsepower AWD fun.

3 pages on start/stop.. There is a button next to the shifter. Push it and start/stop is off. Yes, you have to do it every time you start the car, but it has just become part of the routine for me. Start car, seatbelt on, sport mode on (also just a button next to the shifter), start/stop off. The whole routine takes seconds.
