Yes, but pretty much all fwd cars have a hp ceiling when you ask the front wheels to run high hp, steer, and brake.

oh, for sure. all cars have their traction limits, for whatever reason. that's why i had to be very careful with the throttle. it really did teach me a lot of patience, though, which i still apply today.

Driving my dad's r53 mini cooper S taught me decent throttle control/patience also. That roots supercharger brings torque in quick, and its spin city in 1-3. However, his ZL1 has taught me even more since there are more real consequences to too much throttle in a rear drive car. Especially one that pushes like a dump truck :P

This sounds like a fun read, link?

That was a long time ago... I'm not even sure what I would search for. I'll look though.

So, front-wheel-drive, rearwheel drive, or all-wheel-drive all work for me. Because as posted above, all things are not equal.
👍
My point was the roads are biggest variable if you are not on the track (hence why I could care less how well any of these cars run on the track).

There are literally 100's of threads about "spirited street driving" on this message board, so it is obviously a valid topic.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ly-driver.html

If you are waiting for the day you will have perfect roads in my area for any type of spirited driving, sell the car now.

At any point in the year you have

Snow
Rain
Leaf pickup season
Left over wet spots from dew/previous rain.
Leaves/branches/sand/small gravel washed into the roads from severe storms. (and it never gets cleaned up, just moved off the side of road from traffic)
Gravel/asphalt chunks from roads coming apart from freeze/thaw cycles.
Over zealous salt trucks dumping salt
Quarry entrances that track dirt, sand, and gravel on the road.

So for me the AWD is the governing factor on the street.

Even the accident avoidance thing is real, living in Lakewood, NJ.
No exaggeration, it is like 10% of the cars on the road at any given time
are trying to hit you. I lived there for 20 years, so I am certainly a bit jaded
when it comes to the topic of accident avoidance

Oh my god, who cares about this topic here anymore? The Focus is AWD. All the bull**** about FWD or RWD being inferior because of hypothetical scenarios is pointless.

Get every other poster in this thread to stop talking about other cars
(especially a FWD you will not even be able to get) compared to the
topic car and stop berating people for how and where they drive,
and you may get your wish. Otherwise, you probably won't.

Closer on topic, I see the 2.3 stang ECO is up to 400/400 (ish) with upgraded turbo.
But you sure do lose all that low end torque...............

Seems like a questionable turbo upgrade. And a questionable stock turbo choice, to be honest.

+1. Area under the curve looks about the same as stock. I suppose it might not be the turbo but something else limiting power with the aftermarket turbo.
