At only 2332lbs. the new MX5 is going to be a great track car. Some bucket seats would probably shave off another 40lb.
if this is directed at me, I'm paying cash

and I just can't bring myself to pay that much for a miata... if I wanted a miata, for 25k I could have a monster track slayer of a miata if I just start out with a used NB...

There are already lots of companies jumping into the fray. It seems like every damn week, there's a new go-fast bit posted on the Miata forum.

No, just bitter that the new Miata looks great and has lots of awesome mods available. Some of the stuff I'd like for my Miata.

Fast cheap Miatas at the track are going to have a lot of people thinking "I should have gotten the Miata."

^naw... at regular lapping days its prolly like 80% driver skill and 20% car... I don't see the fast guy in a miata to the rest of the cars changing much with the new miata

The new Miatas do look better than the old ones. That might change peoples' minds a bit.

That is exactly why the Miatas will be posting good lap times. 99% of the drivers cannot drive their BMWs, Porsches, Vettes, modded Evos, anywhere near their car's limits.

other than what amby pointed out, I don't see many people saying they should have bought a miata instead...
