So am I reading right that MSRP is a hair over $51k? I'm finding used '20s at that price range with '21s around $58-59k

Base is but good luck finding any base models without added options. Average base model MSRP is around 53-54k

There are more premiums out there and the average MSRP is 58k.

Add 2-5k for dealer markups currently.

With the premium you get red painted brake calipers (brembo front on both base and premium), heated full leather seats, JBL sound system, HUD, carplay, wireless charging, sport pedals

2020 base also had smaller diameter rear rotors for some stupid reason.

21+ get different cylinder head, lower compression and more horsepower/torque but locked ECU unless you get a very early build. Also suspension dampening changes and programming changes to steering and rear diff.

I don't need the extra fluffs and won't be tuning the car, so sounds like a '21 base model would be prefect.
IF , of course.

Next time you are down this way, let me know. Take mine for a spin through the mountains. If you get a base model I would love to swap you seats haha. Not a leather fan.

Leather? Okay. Definitely base model

So..I'm getting emails from dealerships across the country saying they will only sell to people from either their or neighboring states. They are also, of course, saying "the car in the ad is already spolen for".
Crazy. No wonder the pricing is all over the place.

Base model has seats with leather on the surrounding areas and alcantra in the middle surfaces. I actually like that much better, I find it odd that they offer that on the base, not the premium. To make it even more weird, the crazy over priced CF edition comes with seats like the base model.

As far as your experience with dealers, pricing, etc. Welcome to the last two months of my life. Fun, ain't it? I would say about 60-70% of the listed cars are either already sold or in transit.

I had one dealer in Chicago raise the asking price $5k when I mentioned I was out of state. I reported them to the BBB. Dealers are true POS's currently.

On a brighter note. My Supra is now in-transit and should be delivered to me either Sunday or Monday!

So... what if I stay with the Evo platform and, instead, go with an Icon/favorite/dream/slower car??

Life's short, do what makes you happy. If it's really a dream of yours, and its within your reach, go for it. Just be real with yourself about why you are buying it and what your expectations for it are. It's a huge risk to street it if you don't do it right, and to do it right will be very expensive and time-consuming.

You got a couple more years to wait before that dream can come true.... well legally.

I sent a message out to my Supra guy to see what he has incoming. Last time he checked (6 weeks ago), he could get my color, red and black. White and silver seem to have crazy markups.

Like the Supra? The CT9a in the near future? Like most other cars that we really, really like? I expect at least a month-long wait for anything I'd need that didn't x-reference with any US Mitsus. I gave up on convenience long ago haha.

I have a British car and a Japanese car that is rapidly losing support.... I'm not stranger to any of that. Expectations? Very cool, very slow. Handles like something from the late 90s.

You would think these days, a color based markup would only be ~ as much as a wrap job. TBH I'll probably wrap my next new car day one regardless.

EDIT: I guess there are other reasons you might want a specific color other than aesthetics, 1 of X kind of collector stuff etc.

My mind will change eleventy billion times in the next three years. Plus, a TME will be even more expensive, so that would probably change my mind. You don't wanna know how much the one I posted is listed for already
For the Supra, grey would be my number one choice, with a white a very, very close second. Red would be okay. Black is a deal breaker.

I'd rather be using that money to PPF the original color. But I guess it's more or less the same, either way. If you wrap it, then you have a ton of options, so that's a plus.

I think the grey is the best color for the MK5 Supra for sure. I wish I could have found one. However, it also looks great in white in my opinion. It's a metallic white, which on other cars I haven't been a fan of, I prefer solid white, but on the Supra, with all its curves, it looks great since the metallic showcases the curves. All the metallic color offerings on the Supra look different depending on the light the car is in since there are so many curves.
