To me it all just depends on how serious you are about performance driving. If you want to do open track days, drive to and from the track, cruise around town on the weekends etc. there's tons of newer cars that make great options. If you want to chase down lap records in a competitive setting it's still hard to argue against the CT9A platform. It's a dumb simple car, that isn't heavy or burdened by tons of electronics with a fairly robust drivetrain. These cars really only exist in the first place because of homologation ruling and since that isn't a thing anymore you cars that are on the market are a far cry from these cars. They're certainly the last of a dying breed.

Then there are the crazy people... some guy locally listed his 41k mile evo for 25k. Sold almost instantly. I would have got it if I saw it in time.

Imo - that would go for 40k with right now prices no problem.

 

I meant SS1LE trim like the post I quoted was talking about. There may be a faster Camaro, this is the just fastest one I know of.

The vid you posted was from 2021, they repaved the track and made it slightly wider in some places during the off season between 2020 and 2021, most people are going about 2 seconds faster on the repave. So taking that into account the one I posted seams to be a little quicker. Your guy is prolly the better driver tho, tire difference alone should be worth 2-3 seconds.

 

Do these fit into any of the racing series? Or is it more of a pure track day toy?

 

From what I've seen they have their own series. They also fit into some hillclimb classes.

 

Well. Everything is signed and now I own a car that is currently sitting in a showroom two states away from me.

Truck should get there in a week or so to pick it up. I should have the Supra within two weeks!

I really wanted the grey @Lumpy Sticks has but it was impossible to find. White was my second choice.

Evo is staying for now until I see how I like the Supra. Wife is not happy that both my cars get to stay in the garage for now...

I'll stop taking over @Lumpy Sticks thread and post my own Supra thread here soon. I've already ordered parts and I don't even have the car yet... haha

 

If you are anything like me, once you get the Supra, the Evo is just going to sit and rot away in the garage. I have zero desire to drive it anymore.

Dont worry about taking over the thread. Its more of an anything Supra goes type of thread.

Took mine down to the yacht we have in Long Beach for the weekend. Never realized how nice it is to have cruise control, especially smart cruise control haha.
