Safe to shift from 2nd to 1st at rolling speed?

How do you guys drive your MR? Sometime I slow down to 10 to 20 km, 2nd gear below 2000rpm, it is too weak to pick up speed at that rpm! Is it safe for sst to shfit to 1st while the car rolling?

Just heel toe it or the good ol' double clutch.

Here's my thoughts having driven mine for almost a year.

If you're driving normally and plan on accelerating and don't want the jerking, just stay in second. The gearing is well enough for getting going for daily driving. If you're rolling to a stop, just stay in second and let the TCU do the downshifting. If you downshift any earlier it tends to jerk and stutter. I think a lot of it has to do with the built in engine braking in sport mode. If you stay near 3k RPM's you won't get the jerking.

Now if you were trying to get on it, don't just drop to first and be ginger with the throttle. If you're going to downshift to first you need to stay on the gas and recognize it's going to hammer the RPM's quickly so make sure you get out of first before hitting the fuel cut.

Viola, no more jerking. Recognize the car and transmission are tuned to go, and to stop. Hence why the rolling stops are kind of finicky. If you let the car do the stopping, and go when you want to go it should be smooth as silk.

Why wouldn't you be able to shift into 1st while moving??? I've done it before. As long as you're not putting some major shock on the transmission... I don't know why it would be a problem.

I down shift in mine at lower speeds all the time it does not seem to be much of a problem to me. As long as the trans is not shuttering shod be ok, mine always is.
