Well, after not having run a pro solo event in a few years, I decided to take advantage of running some practice starts yesterday. For those who don't know, a Pro Solo uses a drag race start utilizing the same type of light tree as used at drag strips. I was quite surprised to pull 60 foot times ranging from 1.67 to 1.74 seconds. I think the best other time anyone turned was a 1.79. That was with a 4000 rpm clutch slip launch. Should be an interesting event today and tommorrow. Will post up first day results tonight.

Those 60ft times are great.

Those 60ft times are great.I wouldn't necessarily trust the accuracy of 60' times from a ProSolo. Dennis Grant infamously was clocked with 60' times in the 1.4s a while back. Comparing ProSolo 60' times to dragstrip 60' times is questionable.
But comparing to other competitors is valid, plus Mark's times seem reasonable compared to other AWD SM cars -- I ran low 1.8s on the stock clutch last year, and Evos on upgraded clutches last year (Stemler's and Lieber's) -- as well as DG's Talon -- were running 1.7s.
Well the first day of pro solo competition is in the books, and it was close. Cones have been an issue for both Tunnell and myself. After morning session I was leading by 1.85 seconds, but Mr. Tunnell had cones on both left side runs, and I had a cone on my best left side run. Raw times in the morning I was up by .15 seconds. Afternoon runs cones once again come into play, with Bob officially leading by .3 seconds. Raw times would have Bob ahead by .02 seconds. Unfortunately I corded my fronts during my afternoon runs making the car push badly for my last two runs. I also had big issues launching, as Tunnell had quicker 60 foot times than I did. I could do no better than a lone 1.88, with several over two seconds. The grip level has gone up quite a bit since practice starts, and I bogged almost every launch. I really need to disable the 5,000 rpm launch limiter for tomorrow. I just need to figure out how to do that. So I now have fresh tires mounted for tommorrow. This is also an odd pro solo course as the drag start is only about 180 feet. Another odd thing is that I was told by people watching Tunnell and I run the courses at the same time, that he was beating me to the slalom entry , but I would catch him through the slalom. He was quicker through the really tight slow stuff, and I would jump off the turns a tick quicker than he would. Nationals looks like it is going to be a great battle. We will see how tommorrow turns out.

Go get em Mark, make us EVO owners proud. I though you said the RS don't have the 5000rpm limiter? I was having some problem lauching at Fedex Field Div since the surface is a lot grippier than the local lots that I use to run on. May be an aftermarket clutch?
No, it has the limiter, but occasionally I can blip the throttle and pop it over 5000, but it is inconsistant. I think I have it figured out though. I will try tomorrow in the am.
From the NASIOC board ( http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...=805976&page=2 ) :
Tunnell beat Daddio, although it looks like Daddio would have won on raw time. I still think Daddio has some more work to do on that car to be competitive on a regular Solo2 course with Tunnell, Sias, & Reitmer.
