I have never rolled fenders and don't have a rolling tool but I'm guessing my friends here in DC at Auto Body Craftsmen / Revisions (Mark Figliozzi) can help me with that, as I've actually got some body work needed anyway and will be sending my car in to them.

What do you guys think about going with the Yoko Neova 265/35/18's on 18x9.5+35 FN01R-C's as opposed to the 285/30/18's? Will this require more or less rolling and fender "adjusting?"

You're right Clay that 275 is the max for the EvoM shootout, I just noticed, thanks for the tip. :-)

I haven't found a fantastic price yet on the 5Zigens or the 285/30 Neovas, but it looks like I can get the 5Zigens and a set of 265/35 Neovas for $2432 shipped from DiscountTireDirect-dot-com. If anyone has a better source, please do let me know :-).

Best,
Adam
When I'm not running the Hoosiers I am running 265/35 Advan AO48's for road course racing. You'll still need some fender rolling but it's an easier fit. You can also run a 275/35 also but you'll have to work with the fitment due to the extra height versus the 285/30 or 265/35.

FWIW, that $2432 is right about what I paid total for the NT03+Ms, the 285 V710s, and the 25mm spacers. Do those Neovas cost as much as the V710s? I thought people got the FNOCs, because they were cheaper...

The Neovas are VERY expensive. Like 315 each. If you have to run a street tire I'd seriously consider the BStone RE01R. They are about 250 each.

Is that an FP EvoGreen? I have been considering that turbo as well though I heard they were backordered a few places.

Thanks for all the tire and wheel thoughts guys, my build continues...

Best,
Adam

We usually do 285/30s on 18s, because the 275/40s are too tall. However, some people still choose to run 275/40s despite the clearance issues.

clearance issues I run the 275/40 and have no clearance issues (well, no more than you have with a 285/30)

You want to run the 285/30/18 over the 275/40/17 because of the difference in gearing you gain with the smaller diameter 285 sized tire.

also, the 275/40/17 is a little cheaper than the 285/30/18

what offset? 44mm? you will need at least a 10-15mm spacer to make that rim work. your biggest problem is clearing the caliper, then use a sutable amount of negative camber and raised spring rates to get the fender clearance you need.

No, gearing doesn't come to mind at all (to me anyway). I wanted to use 17X9.5 w 275/40s, but the consensus was that they were too tall to fit properly. 275/40s are way taller than 285/30s, and 285/30s barely fit. How do much taller tires fit the same?

I ran 275-40-17 Azenis for street tires for about 30K miles. Not a problem.

a v710 285/30/18 has a 24.6" overall diameter which is about 848 revs/mile while the 275/40/17 has an 25.4" diameter and 821 revs/miles. That is only a small percentage increase in diameter. I don't think that is where your fitment issues were.

what offset are your rims? +40 right with a 25mm spacer? I think that overall offset is moving the tire away from the spindle, so it makes sense that you have interferance with the fender.

I run a 17x9 +35mm offset with a 3mm spacer for caliper clearance. With the taller 275/40/17 the tire just tucks under the front fender.

Well, I only have the 18X9.5 +40, because I went with 18s and 285s. I was trying to go with 17X9 or 17X9.5 in order to run 275/40s and was told by just about everyone that it doesn't work. Same reason many others use the same size (even with different offsets), and not once was gearing mentioned when doing my research, although if it helps, then I'm glad! I don't know how you can run a 17X9 +35 with just a 3mm spacer. How does it clear the caliper? Is it just the due to the different wheel design, or is the 9" that much different than a 9.5"?
