2008 Street Mod Discussion
If you have a car that can win two classes, you want to do this. Two first place contingencies is better than a first and a second place contingency.
I'm hoping to run into some soft ASP classes this year at the events out east. I know the guy who won ASP at Devens last year in a SS Elise. I used to raw-time him at local events in the Z0K.
I thought I'd add my 2 cents.....Back when I had an ESP car I wanted you guys GONE. Looking back you'd have to admit it didn't make much sense....About the same weight distribution, alot less weight, about the same size tires, much lower gearing and the ability to use that gearing, and power.
But why in hell everyone thinks the sky is falling in SM is beyond me....Mark is an EXCELLENT driver. And he finally got it done........But Bob moved on........
The end of SM world isn't over for everyone else yet......BUT I REALLY REALLY want them to let us (2wd 275 or under) drop 200lbs!!
I say leave the AWD cars alone, and wait n' see.....Not THAT hard is it??

Fast in SM on the west coast? Anybody who chooses to run SM in the Lieber/Tak/Berry/Grice Evo (assuming that they get their motor back to its pre-El Toro condition).
Saying that there has been a downturn in SM participation would be an understatement. Not only have Bob Tunnell and Vic Sias moved on to other classes, but there don't even seem to be any SM cars sponsored by or affiliated with Bimmerhaus or Sias Tuning.
My guess is that 2007 Nationals showed that the Evo (or perhaps specifically the Evo IX) might be the car to have in both SM and BSP. Those without an Evo are avoiding the classes, and those with an Evo get spanked once by Tom Berry in his BSP Evo and realize how far they are from being competitive there (much less SM). At El Toro, Tom put a spanking on some very talented ASP and CSP fields; the only cars faster on DOT tires were the SM2 uber-RX7s of Strelnieks and McKee.

I was wondering if someone could help with a question. Are you allowed to run a wastegate dump tube? I was under the assumption that this was not allowed as per the exhaust exiting behind the driver rule.
Can't do it. The wastegate must dump into the exhaust. Then the exhaust must exit behind the driver or wherever.

Who is using the DL1 and how/where did you mount it?
