2008 BSP Discussion
Oh... You're talking Prepared classes, not Street Prepared classes. Yes, the Evo is in XP. AP and BP went away a couple of years ago because they weren't making numbers at nationals. They got sort of combined into XP, but not really. The Evo is still kind of new to start showing up in XP. Those cars are essentially real race cars. No interior, no dash, only one seat, etc. Not exactly what I want to do with my $35000 car. Once the prices for 03's start dropping below $8k or so you'll start seeing them.
Hahaha thanks I ninja edited it. I was reading in the wrong section all together. lol
I got it ironed out now. Is there anything I should make sure I have for BSP to be competitive?
Street tires only in BSP right, no R compounds? I really couldn't find anything solid in the tire section.
My mods are:
ECU Flash
SBR Manifold
Megan O2 Housing
NT03's 17x9.5 with 255's(Azenis) for now. Plan to do 275's (Azenis)
3" Turbo Back ( No cat )
Whiteline Rear Sway bar
Fuel Pump
MBC @ 23PSI
Injen Intake / UICP / LICP
HP+ Pads
Stainless Brake Lines
Dot4 Fluid (ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid)
From what I read those are all legal in BSP.
Should I remove the back seats and etc? Really worth it?
Thinking about the APR front splitter?
Yes all those are legal in SP. SP is an R-compound class. STU is the street tire class for the Evo. Your lack of a cat and your MBC are both illegal there. Not sure about the intercooler piping. Removing the back seat is illegal in SP. It'll bump you into Street Mod, where you also get into stuff like turbo swaps.
You'll struggle in BSP on street tires, especially Azenis. The combo to have is what Matt just posted: 285/30R18 Kumhos or Hoosiers on 18x9.5 wheels. If you do go with street tires, the Yokohama AD-07, Bridgestone RE-01R, and Dunlop Direzza Z1 are significantly faster than the Azenis.

Hmmm. Interesting. Thanks!
Putting some R's on my stock wheels would be my best option I think. 255's should work fine correct?

Seeing as you are starting out, I'd recommend you read the 1st post in this thread.
Big items to make a fast BSP car (very general): Stiff coilovers with an aggressive alignment, Big-**** R-Compounds (V710, A6 take your pick), exhaust and boost.
The most critical elements (IMO) are your suspension and tires. Everything else - boost/exhaust/weight loss are important, but not anywhere as much as tires and suspension.
That's a very general starting point. I would recommend you find a local BSP hotshoe and talk with him/her to get more info too.
With your mods, personally, I'd dump the boost, put in a cat and run STU.
The Hoosier A6 is available in a 245/40, a 255/45 which is way too tall, and a 275/40, which fits if you're willing to run spacers and maybe roll your fenders a little, or add camber plates. The Kumho V710 is available in a 245/45 and a 275/40. Those are your options.
Whew. I Finally found a set of Enkei NT03+M 18x9.5" IN STOCK. Thanks to Rally Sport Direct..
Now I'm anxiously awaiting my Bilsteins..
Another thing, I have no idea what tire pressures to run with this new setup. I've always ran 36/40 on my 245/45/17 V710s on stock suspension.. but now this setup is nowhere near stock.

Tire pressures is another great discussion.
As far as being a n00b yes I am, but I did do 3 sessions last year so I have an idea.
I plan to attend all this year along with the divisionals and nationals since I live so close.

Make sure you hit up the Tour events and the Pros if at all possible. You'll get your butt kicked, but it's a really good time. Plus we need as many boost buggies in BSP as we can get this year, so they don't boot us to ASP in an attempt to "revive the class."
Here are a few pics from the Feb 24 auto-x event in Primm, NV. Had an AWESOME time..... got in 10 runs

Next event is March 24 and then it's on the tarmac on my "home course" of Nellis AFB in April

This year I got my hands on some 18's wheels for the car, saved 37lbs in wheels and tires. Without the front swaybar I am down to 2950lbs w/o driver. I also added a DL90 for some data aquisition and a cooler vid setup so I can be as cool as John and the Holunfie guys with my videos. I also did a lot of roll center research and determine my RC's were f'd up last year. Much to learn with the DataAq this year.
What can I say, have to find a way to catch you guys.
lost the fender liner at Nationals last year put a new one in last week.
