2008 STU discussion

I do bring a full size race spare to local events, and a second set of tires to big events. I've flatted one and have broken wheels 3 times, once was at the bombed out surface at the Wendover Pro.
Speaking of which, Russ are you going to the Wendover Pro in Aug? We need to make a STU class. Maybe you can mention it to some of the CO BMW guys, since they came out for the San Diego Tour.
Rick
I think the CO BMW guys are planning on going so you should see a few there.
Really only matters for the Super Challenge. Warrtalon - I have 2 codivers lined up. Did you have to go back to work on the El Toro weekend? I pitted next to your car.
Corey- Congrats on the win, good luck at DC.
Rick
Rick, yeah, I was having to fly back and forth from DC to SD for work and play, but when it added up to almost 3 weeks away from home for even one day, I had to make the hard decision to skip the Pro (ugh, that hurt!) and go home instead for that weekend. In fact, I kept my flight to SD that went through Denver, then rented a car to drive from Denver to home. I then flew back to DC on Monday for work (sort of an emergency). It kept the wifey sane, kept me off the **** list, but cost a lot of money for my Evo to sit in SD not doing what I love the most - ProSolo! Also, my buddies accidently damaged my wing backing it out of the big rig (didn't detach the cable that holds the trailer door), so it kinda sucked, but at least the Tour event was intense battling with Marshall.
I had planned all season to go to Wendover, because my same buddy with the rig is going and was going to take us, but I don't know if I'll get permission from the wifey. Maybe if I fly up Friday and fly back Sunday, but definitely not the whole ride up on Wed/Thurs and back on Monday stuff.

I was totally against it and thought it was a lateral move. The guys on slicks that were always winning went to street tires and they still kick everyone's asses because they are good drivers. Everyone is happy though for some reason and SM is all but dead. We have 25+ cars in that class every event and the quickest STIs and EVOs in SMS are several seconds slower than our STU class
Hey all, just wanted to share with you all a short little video of me lifting the rear inside on my STU Evo on stock suspension.
Just soemthing cool to watch.

Man if I'd run NSTU instead of NAS I would have PAXed .5second lower...
I'm thinking of going STU with the X and it looks like coilovers, exhaust and some sort of intake are the items I need to address (except tires when these bald out).
Are intercooler pipes allowed? What about replacement FMICs?

NSTU = Novice STU. They PAX all the cars running in Novice based upon their base class.
Since I ran AS, my PAX number was 0.842. If I'd run STU, the PAX would have been 0.830 and I likely would have been closer to a mini-cone trophy.
Still fun though!
No and no ...
Good saves me money LOL

Next time - Texas Motor Speedway Bus lot - you'll like that one! Much more open.
