i have a brand new set of NT01 275/40 17 sitting in the garage for sale

What rims do you run honda-guy? I've been on my 18x9 Volk RE30s, but I'm thinking about going to 18x9.5 RPF1s or 18x10... just not really looking forward to having to buy Voltex fenders and new rims.

I'm not Honda-guy, but you don't need voltex fenders to run 9.5 or 10" wheels on our cars.

18x9.5 or 10 et 38 RPF1's
extended studs all around
20mm spacers up from with 5mm spacers in the rear
slight roll of the rear fender lip
Done.

I run on 17's but I have run 18x10 and 18x9.5 for autox with the above setup and it works well enough to get a 285/30/18 tire in there.

^ he's correct. i was on RE30 17x9 +35. but i borrow a set of RPF1 18x9.5 + 38, with 285/30 and 20mm spacers up front. the front tires does stick out pass the front fenders about .5" but it doesn't rub because my car is not slam, and the suspension doesnt compress enough to rub the fenders. the rear fenders just need to be rolled, and maybe a 4mm spacers in the back if you rub the control arm.

Hmm.... thats excellent. Did you notice much of a difference with the extra tire patch? I'm leaning towards just doing Voltex front fenders with 18x10'' because I figure if I'm going to larger rims a 0.5'' probably isn't worth the cost?

I'll wait and see how much my broken trans costs me first, but wider tires are on the list of things I want for the car. I also want to reinforce the CFRP splitter with alumalite and put some better hangers on the front. I want to be able to do the "stand on it" test and right now the material is just too flexible. I also need to upgrade the ducting for my brakes as I need something to pressurize the air into the ducts on the front.

^ it wasn't and apple to apple comparison because i ran 255/45 R6 before, then switch to 285/30 A6. going from R6 to A6 is huge difference in it self. the 285/30 18 is also smaller diameter than the 255/40 17, so that improve gearing also.

Yeah, R6 to A6 is a huge difference so it would make it really hard to judge.

Lol, no thanks, I still have my 6-spd laying around, but I won't bother fixing it and Shep doesn't need the cores right now. I got the news on the trans damage today. The 5th gear itself is actually damaged, slider/syncro as well. It doesn't appear that trans fluid temps contributed in any way as the rest of the internals are in perfect condition. My tuner suspects it was damage from fast shifting/banging gears into 5th, but I personally suspect my clutch is the culprit. I've occasionally had disengagement problems ever since I got it on track and high rpm lockout issues. Oh well, Shep is sending my shop a new gear and they'll throw the car back together so I can do some autocross until my next event.

5th gear going out is not a norm for the 6sp. I usually hear 4th being the weakess and go out first. Good luck with your build!

No, 4th went out in my 6 spd... 5th went out in my 5 spd.

Ok, I finally got off my *** and pulled a video off my GoPro with my coach, Grand Am driver Frank Hart, taking Mike Woeller of WindShadow Photography out in my car for a session at NJMP Thunderbolt the last time we were out there. While I was learning the track and focusing on being smooth and precise, Frank has driven on this track for years including Grand Am races, so he really got the car moving. We had the boost turned down to ~21 lbs because we had SO many sessions over the weekend, and we were running NT05s and this session is during an instructor run group where literally every other car was on Hoosiers.

Well got the invoice for the repairs and wear items on the car today. $1500 for the transmission repair including parts and labor, and $1200 for replacement front brakes (pads/rotors). This is one expensive *** hobby.

My tires are in pretty bad shape too, so I'll probably need a new set as well. Coach still doesn't want me on NT01s, so I'll probably run another set of NT05s. As street tires go they are really sticky and much better than any other street tire I've tried.

Absolutely! I'm not sure which local Autox I'll hit while I get ready for another event at Thunderbolt. I generally run with the local PCA group up at Bowie Baysox Stadium, but there are a bunch of groups running and one of my friends who just put together a Factory Five Roadster is trying to drag me out to a few events. It might be a nice cheap break from the wallet punching I've experienced recently.

$1200 just for pads and rotors? What on earth are you using that costs so much?
