The lotus has slowed down in recent gp's, was fastest competitive car early on. I thought kimi's drs was malfunctioning when riding in-car with kimi behind massa!! Kimi had to be pissed.

Schumi best f1 driver...eeh, he had the talent in his prime, but for him to take out villenueve & hill to preserve a few of his championships, ruined it for me. sucks because schumi has sooo much talent. no need for that imo.

vettel & alonso simply get it done with minimal mistakes. scary thing is, vettel makes it look easy & I just love the fact that he is always pushing for fast lap in the process!

steering wheel change was only slightly better than watching alonso almost pull off the double pass of the mclarens.

I disagree. If this is your measure of Schumi, what then would you say about Senna, who many people feel was a dirty driver, at least what he did to Alain Prost?. I know because I have every F1 race videotaped or on a DVD from 1982. Shumi and Hill did have a coming together in Australia. As for 1997, Villeneuve won the championship that year. Villeneuve is not saint as his driving both in F1 and in NASCAR have been horrific in the crashes he has caused.

Sadly, some are Beta tapes, some are VHS and some are on my DVD-R. I started taping F1 when Renault had their amazing turbo cars back in 1982 with Alain Prost and Rene Arnoux driving for them. Those were the days when ESPN ruled in racing coverage and they did a fabulous job.

A little bit about Senna: In his less than 11 years in F1, Senna had 16 collisions with other drivers. He was out 11 times because of such collisions with other drivers and it seems that he didn't learn from his faults: In his last seven years in Formula 1, he had 13 collisions! Senna was very fast and a good driver, but an aggressive one and unfair. He often risked his life and the ones of the other drivers, just to gain some seconds. We cannot forget what Senna did to Prost at the Portuguese GP as well as the Japanese GP in 1988. Senna received large fines and his Super License was temporarily suspended. Senna was a great driver, but the comments made about Schumi by Aby are somewhat hypocritical.

just a few moments that immediately came to mind. Schumi is definetly not a saint.

Didnt prost take senna out first / year prior? I thought senna was just getting a little payback. Senna had many moments too. I never claimed he was the best driver either...

yeah, most drivers have a tarnished past to some degree. I have to admit, schumi definetly maximized his resources. You cant take away his pole positions stats away, but some of his race wins had clouds over them for sure & the same is true for senna & prost.

Havent really seen those antics with vettel is my point. maybe RB is just better @ disguising them?

not a hill or villeneuve fan either.

i agree that Lotus's development has stalled and kimi's chance at winning a race this year has diminished.

You got that backwards. Senna took Prost out, not the other way around. I used Senna as an example because he is held up as the greatest F1 driver of all time, yet IMO, he was much more devious than Schumi, who was quite deliberate in some of his moves. As for Villeneuve, he is infamous for his shoving people off the track, so bringing up in the same breath as Schumi is disingenuous. Regardless, nothing has changed for me regarding Schumacher. I still feel he is one of the top 3 all time great F1 drivers alongside Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna.

My memory sucks

I thought prost turned into senna @ the chicane, which handed the championship to prost. Then senna gave prost the love, the following year? I recall thinking that senna had it out for the french folks that weekend, as balestre changed the line-up to be "off line" on the dirty side of the track & to take prost out to secure his championship...

I think they put a lot of time and $ into that passive drs system.. Now they're not even gonna run it this year.

Its official, Hunkenberg is going to Sauber. You have to think this almost solidifies Kobay's release from the team.

How do U figure/conclude that? Think Sauber is doing two things relative to Kobay getting remaining seat: Sauber has told him that he needs to get some sponsorship...his podium in Japan makes a good argument for some Japanese firms to support him. Second, Sauber is waiting to C if they can hold their current place in the Championship and perhaps even pass Merc, a tall order given the four races left but if possible that will secure Kobay's salary...the current Japanese shampoo endorcement just doesn't cut it.

Finally, after reading earlier posts about Karthekayan (sp?) wining if driving RB's car, do those of U responding NO the word "fecetious"?...my point was if any of the other top five drivers, barring Weber since he has shown he cannot keep up with Vettel, got behind the wheel of the current RB, they would also be winning. This takes nothing away from Vettel but rather recognizes that they have a car now that cannot B beaten.

Later, Ken

^ The podium in Japan was great, but did you see the race right after that?

I make conclusion because thier reserve driver has huge financial backing from Mr. Slim, and he's good. No reason to think he won't get it. Mark my words, Kobay is out.

It's official. The Hulk to Sauber. Looks like they will also sign Gutierrez. I think I can hear Ken sobbing right now at his computer in Rhode Island.

Might the marriage bliss between Alonso and Ferrari be coming to an end?. Fred was in a rage when Pat Fry suggested that the drivers were to blame for the sub-standard qualifying. http://formula-one.speedtv.com/artic...ashed-in-india
