FilthyEvo's track car build/track day writeups
#91
Alright guys, here's a bit of an update.
So, the cage had to be modified. It was just too far in; whoever built it did not measure correctly. If we tried to fab a seat bracket, the passenger would have been sitting on top of the shifter assembly. Not safe, so time to change things up.
To match the drivers side, Kaizen Tuning will be adding a Nascar style door bar to the passenger side, as well as gutting my passenger door. It's just the better/safest route to go. I'd rather have it done now, before the season really starts, than to have something come up midway through the race season.
Also on the list to be done at Kaizen Tuning is;
-New RaceTech seat
-Scroth Hans harness
-Seat Rails
-Cage mods - including harness bar for passenger side
-Fire extinguisher mount
-Quick Release Steering wheel setup
-Full Fluid service
-Address my grounding issue (wiring rat nest at neg terminal)
-Exhaust (to meet Lime Rock's sound restrictions)
-Tie Wing to Chassis
-Alignment
-Corner Balance
I will also be grabbing some Safety gear, and my safety is definitely the most important thing! I plan on picking up a full suit and HANS device in the near future.

No real updates here.
Grabbed a new RaceTech seat, Scroth harness, and HANS Pro. Safety is a huge factor here, so I'm doing everything as safely as possible. I still need to order my suit and quick release.
Other than that, the cage is gettin worked on. Waiting in Kaizen to get their pipe bender in. Ill update on that as I get updates!
In the mean time, I picked up a DD 97 Miata MX5. I've been buying some things for that lately, as it'll a fun dd/autox toy!

Great cars though. Love having the top down, and 30mpg doesn't hurt!

Cage work has finally begun! My motivation for the car has come back in full force.
In other words, I finally have the Miata at a good place. Have an aluminum radiator on the way, as well as RB Front Sway Bar, 949 End Links, and a Sway Bar Mounting Blocks. I also have a Blackbird Fabworx Single Diagonal 4 pt roll bar on the way. This will be a good stopping point for me, and I will just enjoy autocrossing and tracking the car.
And one shot from a Boston meet.
A completely different experience autocrossing the Miata vs. the Evo. I can't seem to pick a favorite.

Neither did I, LOL.
Shots were taken at my buddies fathers shop. They move buildings for a living. Yes, literally jack up building, put them on dolleys, and put them down the road to a new foundation. It's insane!
I've worked for them for while, before starting my business, and that Samsung digger is a BRUTE!
