Just for the topic of convo.. 04 SSL, I launch the car at locals (some great STU competition locally here actually)... about 12 events a year with 5-6runs average = 70ish launches, 2 national events (though haven't hit a pro yet with the EVO) so 12 launches there, run 10 out of region events, say 5runs each = 50 launches... I'm working on year 3 on my clutch then, after 132 launches a year, over 260 the past 2 years, probably another 60+ so far this year with an unlimited T&T so call it 320 launches.... clutch feels fine still here. Sounds like the Pro Solo may be its biggest test yet.

I had quotes of $400 for labor from a few places that were well-respected locally. so I figure $1000 all in labor, parts, fluids, etc, every 3yrs or so, if I continue to have good luck with the car.

Umhhh I really don’t understand why this is so confusing, prohibited and not related to anyone in STU…I do not need to know or ever asked anyone what their clutch budget is…why will I make a new thread about that?
Again; just to be clear not asking any of these: why they must charge 11 hours, or how much money people make or have, or if a shop needs to make money or not, or why the charge more because something could go wrong or how to launch the car, or how long the clutch last.

Moving on___In case that anyone has the same questions in the future:
After checking with more “reputable” shops in my area…The price that I was given ($990) is way too high to replace a clutch in an Evo X…again that was my original question as I was not familiar with the Evo X clutch…I assumed that some people here could gave me a quick answer like: “Wait no, that seems high”, or “Yes that is a good price” etc. not everyone telling me to make a thread about something else unrelated to my question...

Thanks!!! That sounds more reasonable…the Evo X may be a bit more tedious to do.

My clutch r+r two clutches ago was $600 for labor on an Evo 9, that was done at English racing which is an Evo shop out in Washington state. I did the next one myself, I think number three I will send their way

I think you misunderstood. We were suggesting that you make a new thread about clutch replacement costs in one of the Evo X specific sub-forums. You'll get more answers that way, and it makes it easier to find for others in the future. Also, most of us drive Evo VIIIs and IXs in this thread, so even though this is the STU thread, you're still probably asking in the wrong place for Evo X specific questions. Honestly, we're just trying to help.

The part# listing aka collision-repair guides actually has an 'estimated time for replacement'. Shops may use this as a basis.

I ordered my BFG Rivals back in February, and they finally arrived last Monday. I'm excited to try them out.

I'm coming from Z1 Star Specs. Should I expect to make any big changes in tire pressure, car setup, or driving style?

Congrats!

Yes, it will cut down on travel, but I think it is a good trade

There is some concrete near the DC area again, as Tidewater Sports Car Club has 3 events on the schedule for ACU-4 - big hovercraft pad with awesome concrete, right on the water. Pretty much the coolest autox venue I've ever been to. I am hoping to make one of the events there later this year.

(sorry to hijack from arguing about clutch installs )

My understanding is absolutely YES to the concrete.

My first little one is due in November, find out if it is a future STU or STUL driver today actually..

Now, will someone buy my zII's finally!?!
