I am still scratching my head all night. I thought I was at a pretty good pace until I saw what Dan/Jake and then you did on this course. I am hoping it was just the new Hoho that needed an event to wake up, but with that pace of yours today, is a bit scary...lol....probably the best I have seen you in this car.

Thanks Gary, your ASP car looked good out there. It was a fast freaking course that rewarded power and proper lines. I raised my limiter in prep for the pro and was still on it on the back straight real early. After 2-3 cuts I simply just coasted cause I didn't feel comfortable riding it for that long lol. The hohos will come in and you guys will be all set for the PRO.
Thanks. The wheels made it look good..lol..not the way I drove. A bit worried for the Pro too, my codriver said we need to launch ar about 7k!!!
I think my clutch just took a dump cause it knows I read your comment. lol You guys had some gnarly launches yesterday...car did not seem like it was having issue what so ever.
Chris/Gary,
Both of you, nice driving! The course really did reward good driving. Apparently driving so many MSNE events has made me forget what a technical course looks like. :/
Last event before the pro and the car is ON POINT. Had my prosolo codriver with me so he can get familiar with the car (BTW we are out of Bump for the PRO). I like my car on the looser side which is not his style so he actually ended up having a real close call sliding towards oncoming cars when it let go on him around 55mph Also he might have set the record for cones hit lmao 18 in 4 runs prior to the 5th run DNF. It takes alot of effort to hit that many cones. The way the car is set up makes it hard to drive initially, but works real well once you understand it. The car doesn't really turn in right off center due to all the camber, it sort of turns, loads up and then bites down. If you are not ready for it, it will oversteer on your real quick. We are going to make some simple adjustments for his runs at the Pro and then go back to my settings my for runs.
Long story short the car pax'ed 4th. .3 out of Salerno in his SS GT3. Ended up getting STU by a second. Heat 1 had 4 clean runs and it started raining somewhere in the middle of their 5th and then come down. When it was our turn the course was soaked wit no grip. Towards the end of run 3 it started drying out and runs 4 and 5 were almost dry. I set my fast time in run 4 and then pushed it a little and overshot the turnaround which ended up being .2 slower overall. Car was on pace to set top pax until my mistake. Very happy with how the car reacted to changing conditions and was instantly on pace when the conditions allowed
Aparantly I make funny face lol
Video of my best run (different camera angle as my stuff is not water proof and I didnt know if the rain was going to let up or not)
Are you guys running small batteries? I ran an odyssey pc680 maybe 10 years ago on my old evo, was not a fan of the weak CCA or the drain (security, headunit).
has the technology on this improved any since then? Running an optima yellowtop now, particular for the deep discharge ability.
Are you allowed to put the battery in the trunk in STU?
believe so - that's the other option, but I'm not really familiar with how to do something like that. would be simpler to use what Eric (heel2toe), which I believe is the Shorai LFX36L3-BS12. 5lbs... amazing
I would put it in the trunk, it's pretty simple. Just run the positive from the battery in the trunk to the large stud on the stock positive terminal in the engine bay, insulate. And then run a ground in the trunk. I removed some pain from the driver side shock tower and the ground is under one of the nuts for the upper shock mount in the rear. I used 1/0 welding lead (high strand count, very flexible and low resistance) and was able to find nice terminals at a heavy duty truck place.
unfortunately, what you said just now means nothing to me! lol! I think strapping down a small battery is the easy button, though if I had the know-how I'd love to built something into where the spare tire area goes and balance the weight out like that.
You're in the PNW, take it to ER and have them do it. I'm sure they're more than capable of it.
I too did not like the idea of a small battery, mostly just because of the low cranking amps and reserve capacity. That's why I went with a full size battery in the trunk. And the car needs the weight back their anyways.
yea that's definitely my preference - I'm looking at Shorai, seems to have good CCA (540) and decent ah (36), maybe worth a shot. But yea my headunit & security are the big concerns. Car sits for months but I always leave it on the trickle!
wish I were in the PNW, I'm smack dab in the middle of the country
If the car is always on a trickle, it's not a concern. I'm lazy. I always forget to hook it up, and the car is dead after sitting for a month anyways....
