You're kidding right?

Aftermarket heads, way more engine internal options, quick release hood and door hinges, way more sway bar and suspension bushing options, way more options for tubular members, oil pans that don't suck ***, way more chassis specific aero components.

We have one aftermarket head. But I don't really see the need for it.

We have more than a couple companies that make tubular subframes, swaybars, suspension components, etc...

The rest is stuff you can build....

If you want that aftermarket, go build an AWD civic I guess...?

I think you're missing the point I'm trying to get across. If more evos were made the aftermarket would be more comparable to the larger Honda and domestic aftermarkets. We're only at the beginning of a downturn for the evo aftermarket, consider the golden age done and over.

Pretty much. Dudes like Dallas keeping the innovation alive. All the big shops "made their money" and moved onto GTR's in waves. Meanwhile for sheer quantity reasons the C5/6/7/8, mustang, honda etc have new companies popping up to produce exotic parts for cars older then ours. Basically, the "racing problem solving" end of part making died on the grand scale for our chassis. I believe mainly because the majority of our generation didn't respect the car enough to take care of it, and the shops that spun up thinking working on an evo was easy so "I can do this for a living" made it even worse.

Someone google the car #'s produced and compare, lets get a table going for sheer shock and awe lol. Betcha due to Hawnda's being so slow and safe and cheap to fix counts for a lot.

# thread derail, but hey we're bored lol.

Blows my mind, go to most major events and you see Evos and S2000s at the top, yet they're account for the smallest number of entrants.

I cant even figure out what the next platform Im going to build on because I still haven't seen something as interesting as either. New Supra is looking pretty capable, but I have had some requests for P-car stuff.

At the end of the day, I think it takes mid engine to beat performance envelope offered from the Evo. S2000 or some crazy Cayman build is probably where its at.

Edit: Also, sorry Andy... We totally crushed your thread with OT

Ya the cayman clubsport is likely my next target in ~5 years. S2k is never gonna have the grunt or reliability, so I wouldn't see it as much of an "upgrade" to move to.

@Driv200 You had this Evo listed for sale recently. What track toy were you thinking of buying to replace the Evo if it sells?

Damn Dallas = SSB spindles came in!

No worries crushing the thread Dallas. Just got your spindles. OM MY Goodness!!! Sweet. Each piece individually wrapped and packaged for safe shipping. High class.

I had offer of $40k on EVO. Turned it down. If I had sold, I was looking at Lotus Exige stuff....then drove one and didn’t think they would hold up to much abuse. I did the Cayman thing....still do... but I have had that Porsche premium before on every single part you order. I landed on the C7 Grandsport to handle my after hours street fun and track work (favored the street use probably). The GS already has upgraded everything, wide body, and aftermarket parts galore for the engine. C8 has dropped C7 prices. But......couldn’t let the EVO go. So here we are.......stay tuned for progress pics. My Porsche guys can’t believe I got front & rear axles, rear rotors, hub assemblies, ARP extended studs and SSB’s for $5k. Would have been $15k for the P-car. Just sayin.

Nice! I put everything together to make sure there wasnt some odd machining issue and it all fits as intended and I havent forgotten any parts. Then I try to leave as much together as I can (like the big bolts and spacers where they go) to make it more intuitive how its put together since my insructions either dont exist or suck .

Balroc/Matt gave me a bunch of tips and advice on getting things packed up and while Im probably known for my excessive brown hand wrapped packing, it seems to be the most durable way to get parts safely to their new homes

Parts look amazing. Can’t wait to complete the SSB catalog collection. Didn’t see any instructions, but that’s up to my pit crew to figure out. 😂. Like the packing tips and how you assembled beforehand. Top shops can’t say that. Thanks Dallas.

Dallas your packaging is awesome but also like a christmas present wrapped in a fake present, wrapped in a fake present, wrapped in another fake present. Eff, just give me the parts already! I got the catalog and 4 boxes of mystery bags of paper took its toll on me. I 100% appreciate the care you took, though. Shipping companies always blame the packaging when something gets damaged but it is definitely solid.

Haha, yeah its wrapped extra for sure! The first uprights I boxed up in a couple cases managed to get loose in the box and dented some of the parts as they banged around. No effect on function but certainly not what I wanted to present when people are paying good money for these things.

Is it possible to put EVO X rear calipers on IX RS? Can’t seem to find any VIII-IX Rear calipers.

It's been discussed several times without many positive results. Not really feasible to do it and maintain the parking brake.

The spacing between holes on the caliper ears is slightly different, too. Can't just ream out the holes, you'd have to offset them as well. I recall someone posting that they did some freehand grinding on the holes to make it work but it didn't sound very elegant.
