Dude F that noise. How could they possibly want that much for e85?? I'd rather retune every 6 months if it really came down to that.

I'm thinking about the e85 content analyzer. Do you have to buy the flex fuel sensor or do our cars have the ability to read ethanol content through the ecu. I couldn't find anything about it.

if you want the ethanol content analyzer, you need to buy the guage (180ish), and the flex fuel sensor. the flex fuel sensors are the expensive part. you'll also want the pigtail for the sensor because it is a lot cleaner looking in the install.

your car doesn't come with any ability to read ethanol content, nor do they have any sensors to measure it with.

what chkmgnt was talking about is C85, which is a race fuel blended with the ethanol. it will have a higher octane rating then the E85, with the same benefits of the latent heat of vaporization the ethanol carrys. keep in mind that C16 is 14+/gallon and so is the C85. E85 is 2.99 a gallon. so 10 dollars a gallon less.

if you used 50 gallons of fuel in a two day track event, on the C16/C85 you will be spending about 4$ per MILE, or roughly 700 in fuel alone. with our E85 cars, it costs about .75$ per mile or 150 per weekend. thats a 550 dollars a weekend difference in fuels... and both of them will have to be hauled in.

IIRC MSR-C or TWS was going to buy a drum for us for a NASA race so if you're going down to a track you can ask them about getting what you need.

If you have a truck, you can put the barrel in the bed and go to the E85 station in Denton that sells 85% from the pump and just pump it in yourself. I bet it would be cheaper than some of the other options you guys are talking about.

You don't need a tow vehicle, you already have one. Mark Berry had the rig before he went full race with his Evo. He had a very small wheel carrier that was merely a small utility trailer that you can tow with track tires as well as all the fuel you want, hell, sell some while you're out there and cover your expenses. As long as your car is street legal, its the only way to go.

I really need is EvoD to design and build me a trailer hitch for the EvoX so I can pull my fuel and tires. Watching the older Evos, Corvettes, and miatas pull a trailer makes me envious. I know a few people have made some one off hitches but you can never get good info on how they were built.

If you don't want to drive a truck full time, you can consider doing what I did and buy a truck for towing only. I spent $6500 on the truck and $1100 on the trailer. So far, I have used it over a dozen times in the last few months getting my car to the track and other venues. It is a pretty big expense, but it really comes in handy, especially if something were to happen at the track (knocks on wood).

Haha. I think you will enjoy Dallas much more. Plenty of friendly people and tons of military Evo owners.

Did you talk to Tam about his hitch? He just put one on his Evo to pull his go cart trailer. I've never seen a trailer for a X, but I'm sure he can figure it out.
