Pointless NTEC chat thread
Look at that smile! I am going to be right there with you man! I cannot wait for my son to turn "old enough to push pedals"! I have his first electric car for 12-18 months already picked out!
So DKC has some rental karts for the really little ones... like 4 years old. The first one they put him on, the pedals had extensions on them that made it too close for him so we got down another kart without the extensions. There was another 5 year old out there, and he was just recently turned 5. All the other kids were super helpful to E and wanted to help him get better and were excited for him. It was like an autocross but with kids. We just have to figure out if that's what he wants to do or not. He likes baseball too, but he can't do both.
I think he looks great! I plan the same with my son, if he likes it I will support him 150%, if he wants to do baseball or football etc, I will back it down to 100%. ^_^
I have seen that one several times, great damn movie! The way I look at it, I cannot take the money with me when I expire, seeing your son do something you were never able to do would be well worth the price! Almost all professional racers started in karting, with supporting families.

So yeah, I've been doing some hardcore shopping and decision making as far as to a build I'm seriously going into doing really soon. But I don't wanna over-do "helper" parts, meaning I'm not going to go 2000cc injectors when 1200cc is fine. This is the build I have going, and its in my budget for the beginning of next year, but I want thoughts first:
EF3 Turbo/FP BB Green (I plan on a motor build in a couple of years, so I want to have the turbo already)
AGP/AMS/ETS Intercooler
Cobb Hard pipes
MAP DW300 Fuel Pump
MAP Downpipe
AMS Camshafts + Kelford Springs
MAP Shortrunner Manifold
1300cc Injectors (not sure brand)
RPF-1 17in
SSP 500hp clutches + seal kit (this was what SSP recommended)
Dual Tune for 93 octane and E85
Necessary parts will be ported and ceramic coated.
Anyone have ideas or suggestions? No matter how expensive, I cant seem to look away from the FP BB Green. Longevity is a big deal sometimes, let alone insane spool on bigger turbos.

Goofy,
My dad got me interested in racing through carting. I got started a little later, though. I was 10 or 11 during my first race. It was, by far, the best thing we have ever done together! Tons of time spent together and lots of knowledge passed down.
But be warned, it can get out of hand really fast. I got a cart, then my dad wanted one. Then we built a stand to fit both INSIDE a minivan (that was awesome). Then we bought a trailer. But the best of all was the mobile standalone engine dyno that we built. It was a thing of beauty and used to squeeze every .05hp out of those little engines. Too bad I was about 10lbs overweight for my class (lots of younger kids with more experience).
This all happened within about 2 years. Then I got more interested in baseball, then muscle cars, then girls.

If you feel the Walbro 255HP won't be enough for you I'd skip the DW300 and go with the Full Blown 340 or Walbro 400.
