I half-jokingly said on the way to the lot exit "And now to leave the lot sideways." She laughed...but I laughed more at her thinking I wasn't serious. I mashed the gas coming out and we fishtailed around the corner and took off like a bat out of hell. Luckily, the heavy construction in that area meant the feeder road was covered in layer of dirt, so that helped out my plausible deniability as I reacted with fake surprise at having done that for the "first time."

Of course, this was all before I bought the car I have now.

I liked the look of the new Camaros until I sat in one after test driving the Mustang and bonked my head just getting into it. I'm only 5'11" and even in a model with no sunroof, my head was brushing the top with the seat as low as it would go. That's when it struck me that the new Camaro is a total chick car.

You don't want the 12/10 setup...unless you are going to track heavily or change pads for events. You are not going to be building enough speed to warrant those pads at AX, unless you plan on adding weight to the car over mine! The 10/8 setup I use is somewhat loud and hard on the rotors for daily driving, if you don't believe me I will take you on a ride after it is running again. KevinD heard them the other day I pulled into his garage. Justin if you want a good setup get the 10/8 they are bearable for DD and the cold bite, due to not getting hot enough yet, is quite good at AX. When they do get warm, which takes a lot, they modulate well. When cold they are on/off switches. The first AX I ran with them at Pennington I actually came to a complete stop on course, I installed them the night before.

Also, the best price I found on the Carbotech's was at PTP (Texas Track Works).

I thought he was wanting to do more road courses, where the 12/10 would be more appropriate?

He won't do enough track days to make the difference. Money comes into play tracking, you wear items faster, break downs more likely, etc. He still DD's his car, I was just trying to say I DD my car and AX, and have done a few track days and the 10/8 combo works for them all, which is why I chose them. IIRC you jumped from some pretty bad pads that didn't last very long, too the high end ones and skipped the middle ground. I like AX and how you can track a persons performance, mine has gotten better since running that combo at AX.

I needed the better pads. In fact, I'll be moving to xp14/12 combo on my next set. I agree he can start 10/8 and get a feel for it before anything else. I didn't realize he would DD the pads too. I don't DD, so I dont have that issue :-)

That makes more sense, sorry I thought you were going to DD on them. That is why I went 10/8, they are a great all round pad. Good for everything.

are you on slicks yet? don't go to strong of a pad, its easy to out brake the tires and aggressive track pads are easily to much for any street tire.

nope still ad08s. I haven't (thus far) had any issues where the tires couldn't hold the braking. But maybe I will put it off until I do make the move to slicks. Luckily, these pads have 3-4 more weekends on them :-)

Side note: I could really use some better rotors and pads for autocross. I have slotted rotors and Hawk HP+ pads. They're decent but still would like more stopping power. Thoughts?

Carbotech AX6 pads do pretty well on the X. I would have gotten them but I wanted a pad I could track occasionally and DD without swapping pads.
