Me trying to shift my car in any gear!Actually, something very strange has happened. All of a sudden after letting my car sit over the weekend and the sudden drop in temp last weekend, my car has been grind / notch free! Im soooo confused now. I did nothing to correct the problem. It corrected itself, temporarily, probably. I think I need some help with this one. That tells me I may not have synchro issues like I thought I did.
Its a cheap combo that will work great

Then I put in BGII and it was good but didnt seem to hold up well.
At 15k I put in 2 qts. oem + 1 qt. of HEAVY Shockproof - it was awesome. My trans shifted like butter and when I changed it at 30k there was very minimal shavings and it just looked good (compared to 15k which was still break-in probably). My friend danl uses this as well in his evo with no complaints (which he also owns the 1G with a shep trans. I refer to below)
I re-filled with redline MT90 and my tranny has become very notchy, unless I am very careful I scratch 2nd routinely. It just doesn't feel like the previous mixture i used which my friend uses in his 1G eclipse with a shep trans (which shep recommended that blend to him). I thought maybe my clutch needs adjusted or bleed my clutch but now that your saying the problems you have maybe it is the fluid. Because seriously my transmission feels like junk lately and its irritating.
This spring im swapping my fluid back out for the oem+shockproof mix because it worked great....and I think the MT90 is causing my problem, some I guess like it but mine seems to hate it.

I know its not an evo "norm" mixture but dsm guys use it and they like it....
just my .02 cents which probably isn't worth much more than $.01
I used stock for the 1st 3,000 and it was notchy as all hell.

I'd like to test out your mixture as well... Anything's worth a try. Or I was thinking amsoil.
The whole weird thing is... Why all of a sudden would the fluid either lose viscousity, or whatever it did? It seriously feels like a whole different tranny. Either way, my clutch has to be replaced this spring. Now I have the problem of finding out what's broke and what's not.
You know what man, you could be right. My problem did start whenever I switched to MT90. I basically put it off as being a side effect of the BG II. I read a ton of horror stories about how BG killed everyone's synchro's. So... I just thought the MT90 was normal and my tranny was shot.

I would give the mixture I said about a shot.....its no more expensive.
Not sure why.....mine felt good for the first couple hundred miles but has now gone to complete crap. The sooner I can go back to my previous blend the better, cant wait to see the metal shavings I will have in this short period of time of using MT90.
I'm travman's friend.
I have the shep 1g trans and it shares a lot of parts as the evo trans. We can even share gears. Figure them on acting the same with respect to fluids. I own both cars and I can tell you, they act the same.
I'm a big fan of penzoil synchromesh WITH and only WITH shockproof heavy. penzoil only lasts about 3K miles though, which is fine for a racing transmission with racing fluid changes.
I also like the BG synchroshift II (synthetic). It last 15K (the evo oil change interval). I only like it with a quart of synchromesh heavy added in. Go 50/50 if your a 500whp car or above.
I bought a 5 gallon bucket of OEM diaqueen for the transmission from mitsubishi. I use 2 quart of it with 1 qt of shockproof heavy in the evo for the summer. Even when it got colder it shifted fine. I however changed to straight OEM for the winter months to thin it out. It shifted fine for a week, maybe slightly more. However not its ****ing notchy as **** and I scratch second all the time. Its only mid 30's here in MD now, about the same as when I took the OEM+shockproof mix out.
I think a good year round mix is either 2qts of oem or BGII to a quart of shockproof heavy. Possibly MT90 (2 qts) with 1 qt of shockproof heavy but I haven't personally tried this combo. It should last for 15K intervals, protect your gears, and shift well.

I just put in my new Megan (evo 9 specific) downpipe and now it clears ACD just fine. Holy freakin scratches though on the ACD. I'm glad I got it off when I did. Anyhoo, I noticed that the downpipe rubs/sits on the front stabalizer bar - is this common? Any problems associated with it? Should I take it off and live with the slightly less lack of rigidity to not mess up my downpipe? Opinions, por favor...gracias.
Oh, and tomorrow I should finally be getting my ECU back from Jestr Tuning. Apparently, FedEx's overnight means shipping two days later and making me take a bus to work

down pipe
Very nice, take that other pipe and sell it back on ebay.....loosen bolts at turbo,,,Try to bend the mounts at the exhaust hanger....push up on rear of down pipe tighten bolts at turbo....Let me know how it runs when you get the ecu back...
