here is my SMH contribution

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...t-do-next.html

I just don't understand the need to senselessly modify a car for no other purpose than to spend money or say you have X parts installed.
Its really mind bottling to me... you know, like your thoughts are all trapped in a bottle and they can't get out.

I don't consider you part of that 'group' since you actually race your car.

you should've suggested a big brake kit, voltex GT wing and a rear diffuser.

your right, a BBK is an extremely useful upgrade for the street. I bet his next question would be .... "what color?"

You're actually right, i the buyer keeps it fo the long run. Some bbk kits use a pad size that is so common, that the pads are half the price of the stock Evo pads. If anyone looked at the thread Jeff Ritter made about the AP Racing caliper kit, the pad they planned to use was 1/3 the price of a set of like pads for the stock Brembos...so in the long run, you brake better and save money on pads! WIN!

Thats an interesting way to justify spending 3k on a BBK.

did you calculate how many pad purchases it would take to realize the cost benefit of running a BBK?

No...just price difference. The pad used in the comparison was a similar thickness as the OEM pad. I'm just repeatin what I read in the post...no experience. Want me to buy a 13inch bbk and try?

Physics...bigger torque arm, same pad compound. Beats me...playing devil's advocate here.

Yup... Obviously, a street car doesn't need it for performance reasons, other than the owner wanting to do it for baller status. I am no one to judge what others do

BBK's are full of win in my book unless you manage to downgrade to bigger brakes

right, but your really limited by traction on street tires ... unless the BBK is lighter.

Plus, a BBK is going to come with semi-race oriented compound, which will probably not stop as well as an OEM pad, on a single stop.
