yes. depending on how much pad material you have left you 'could' run them too if you wanted, but there isn't anything wrong with upgrading the pads for extra insurance.

I believe Mike has lightweight 2-piece rotors that wouldn't hold up to track day abuse.

I'm running the same rotors, just swapping the pads over.. I'm also on the XP10/8 combo.

I don't swap pads or rotors for the street. The pad part is just cause I'm lazy and don't feel like pulling my wheels off. the rotor part however is because brake rotors will last longer if they're 'seasoned'. meaning if you heat cycle them on the street a lot prior to really heat cycling them at the track the will be more durable and last longer.
Do you think it's necessary for you being on street tires? Some of the guys I talked to over the weekend are on Hoosiers and don't even run on as aggressive pads.

I personally don't think the xp-10/8 combo is aggressive at all. its actually closer to the bottom of their 'race' type pads, with the XP-16 being at the top. I can drive them fine on the street with the only draw back being they make noise. I've tried other pad combos and this felt the best with my setup/driving style. On street tires once everything is warmed up I don't even hit ABS.

you will get a bunch of different answers when it comes to brakes and there isn't really a right or wrong, its whatever works with your setup and feels the best. for me, this is the best combo I've tried to date... but that doesn't mean I'm not open to new things.

Here's a ood one for newbies:

July 30-31 at NJMP with EMRA. Cost is $275 for both days, but I will talk to Tiebout about getting a $100 discount card for anyone who will be running with EMRA for the first time. That's stupid cheap for 2 track days!

Is it a time trial and/or a HPDE?

EMRA always has either a race or TT going on at an event. that is a stupid good deal though especially with the discount.

I may not be able to pass this one up.

Pete, how did the SE do at NJMP? Did the SST cooperate?

Yes, but you can run with an instructor.

yeah, I didn't mean to infer that it was an event where you had to either race or TT in order to participate, just that they run those race/TT events in conjunction with their HPDE format, similar to how PDA/NASA does it.

$175 (with coupon) is crazy cheap for two days. I wonder how much track time you get for that price. For reference PCA (if you're a member) is usually $165 for one day, but you get almost 2.5 hours of track time. Non-members are $185 for one day, I believe.
