The 2012 Ford Focus gets 80mpg (Diesel version).

Of course we won't get it here in the US because Americanos no likely el Diesel.

I'm going to call Ford and tell them put me down for a 2012 Diesel Ford Focus see what they say.

Maybe in a few years when hybrids are more common and less expensive, but not yet.

That said check out the Volkswagon TDI's, I read some dude was getting 40 mpg. Diesel cars are no longer the smoky cackling noise machine like the diesels of old.
the cost of the hybrid is all relative. Say you budget 30,000 dollars to get a new car. You may want a 3 series or something like that for 30k, you can get that new lexus hybrid for the same 30k, and get 20 miles to the gallon more. If two cars cost the same and one gets better gas milage, it should be considered, and in this case the new ct does just that.

new 3-series don't cost $30k....more like $40k before you even drive it off the lot.

i'd love a diesel pickup. something big like fineberg's.

i'm happy with the subie though. and i can tow things in it if need be.

You do realize maintenance is more of a concern than gas price? A Lexus isn't cheap to maintain

Taking on a car payment will still cost me more than it will save me, if fuel continues to rise, it may be worth it though.
I had a friend who bought a GTO and drove 35 miles one way to work.

after spending over $700 a MONTH driving to work he bought a camry which paid off at the end.

subtle dumbass coworker post.

maintanence is what steered me away from the audi tdi.

also maintanence on the hybrids isn't an area i'm familiar with and i keep hearing horror stories of prius' coming out of warranty and needing a $10,000 repair.

(i'm talking about maintanence in the long haul....like 5-6 years from now)

Hey Ben, sorry I didn't chat for long. I felt bad running like that but I have a rookie that's ****ing up left and right and I was afraid he would beat me back to work and break something else.

Who is going to the opening of FNF5 this Friday? I think it's only Rob and I so far. That's kind of sad. The Street OutlawZ will be there in force I hear with their Chevy Beretta's and Corollas.

If fuel mileage was a huge concern, I'd go VW Gold TDI or Jetta TDI Sportwagon. Both can get 40-50mpg on the highway, and you won't want to kill yourself while doing so. They are actually both really nice cars, and will likely run for 250k miles. The new clean Diesels have good power compared to the older models, and they aren't even terribly loud anymore.

Has anyone driven a Prius before? They are about as boring to drive as they are to look at.

No worries, I think people in the crowded Wawa parking lot wouldn't appreciate two cars blocking everything up. I thought you were the General Sales guy (John?) when I saw the car.
