I have 6 days on my Carbos, and they're not completely gone yet. They have a few sessions left in them, but I wouldn't want to go through tech and not be able to run cause they think they're too thin.

I paid $150 for the set. Can't really complain... I would buy them all day every day if I had the chance.

I'm still curious to know how these guys can undercut the competition by so much. A set of front ST43s in the Evo shape retails for $260-280 per set. Through a vendor on here, one might get lucky and get say $230 shipped. Getting the price Pete was quote for $180 is about 30 percent off retail, based on the $260 figure. Sounds almost too good to be true doesn't it? I'm inclined to buy a few sets and resell!

On that note, the RS-3s also has to lower wear ratign of 140, compared to the Z1s. However, the lastest Grassroots Motorsports mag review of high performance tires ranked the RS-3s over the Z1s. RS-3s also came out with the fastest lap time on their test autox course. Read it!

I woulnt have bought them if it wasn't a good deal...

Raybestos only list one part# for both the STi and the Evo, R1001. Also, they are aware of my application, so I don't think I'll get the wrong thing.

Whats that you guys always say, HATERS GONNA HATE! Slip away biatches!

You would say that, but thats on the only tires you've had experience with on the X. There has to be good reason why they're on back order, and require a 3 month wait. Z1s are great tires. Just saying there's new stuff out that deserve a closer look at before it get disregarded. There has been alot of good reviews on these tires. The price hike on the Z1s also does not help. By the time you need new tires for your X, the Z1s will be obsolete.

We's not hating, just curious. Don't think for one minute I won't capitalize on this find it does turn out to be positive. But it does make me think how they're able to seel it at a price where no one else is. BTW, we need to keep this between us. If another vendor finds out and *****es to Porterfield about being uncut, we might not see such pricing again.

I wasn't disregarding the RS-3's. Just saying that star specs offer more than I can get out of them at this point.

Also I think it's fair to say that you've only experienced star specs too. Street driving and autox only give a glimpse of how they perform.

On the base of what the tire does at the track, you're right. But most of the testing I read are on autox and street driving, so my experience is linear. Of course driving experience matters, so there's no argument there. I've had RE-01Rs, Advan AD-07s, Star Specs, and now NT05s. All in 255.40.17, with the exception of the NT05s which are in 275.40. Yes, I've been through alot of tires since 2006.

I guess what I'm saying is, if I needed to buy tires today, I would probably order Rs-3s, given the reviews, price point, and performance. They are the same reasons I bought the StarSpec, and reason for its popularity.

I don't mind being a guinea pig I guess.

EDIT: forgot I also had Toyo R1Rs.
