Yeah, I did watch my mirror more than I should also for that reason haha

His dad has a Cosworth and a Z06 with cams (I believe that combo is just shy of 700hp or something along those lines). Does the strip in like 11 secs I think or something. They had it out at a track day last year, maybe again this year. So yeah, he knows about them vetts

So for road course racing, do you fellows purchase separate insurance for the day? How does that all work out

Most don't. There is independent insurance available, but it depends on which club you run with and what the event is. I think for racing, you will not find insurance, but for HPDE there are a few options. Here is one:

i've done a lot of reading on this when bored one day and there is track insurance but it is usually really expensive. like double your regular yearly insurance. another thing to note that many insurance agents are advised to drop you for just mentioning the word track....er asking about track insurance.

This is probably the largest turn-off for road course racing. Atleast with auto-x, the worst is you can do is get cones stuck up your fender.

No, you still run the risk of hitting something like a curb or a lightpole, maybe even a tree depending on the lot. We've seen someone roll there car too... ish can still happen but its def "safer" IMO.
