I don't even know if I can fit 285's in my wheel wells. I think my front fender liner would be flying off. How do you make it work?

I guess I could try, but I don't want to buy tires and then have problems. I'm not a mad-tyte-modifier like Thai...

There are no trophies, no tires, and not even any bragging rights to be had...it's cliche, but "there is no winning an HPDE."

What I actually said was I would instruct him, if he wanted--though I admit that I would not be comfortable with him, or any, new/rusty driver pushing hard enough to hit any target time their first day out/back. Early HPDE sessions are about smooth inputs, proper line, and the demonstration of good situational awareness and track etiquette.

I am not a fan of nor do I encourage any new/rusty student to take a high risk line or drive on R-comps or have any time recording device that gives live feedback--you do not need to know how fast you are going, you only need to know you are putting the car in the right place and that you are aware of the other cars and flaggers on the track.

If Mike is solo'd and then wants to play in your uber-cool HPDE domination bullsh!t then so be it, just don't waste my track time for your clean-up.

Ok for the 100th time I am going to say this.... I signed up and requested an instructor to make sure I was driving the correct line safely. Never said I would Nguyen my first 30 minute session. I feel by the end of first day I will feel comfortable enough to start driving the course and putting times down. Who knows, might take both days, not sure.

I am not trying for the track record. I will be recording my times with trackmaster so I can see if I improve as the event progresses. I know you don't agree with worrying about that, but I would like to see that I am improving. I already was signed off in the past, have done many laps by myself in my Acura and the Evo. Pretty sure I will get back into the flow of things and then I would look at my times compared to everyone else.

What do you mean waste your time for my clean up? How about just give me any instructor who knows what they are doing, I will work on getting signed off and that will be that. If I do not posses the skillz to get signed off than I guess I won't be. If you said the instructor out with me warning him better watch out and don't sign him off that is not fair. You can figure it all out since your the chief, do whatever you think is right. If I don't like how it goes I just won't run with you again, no biggie.
Last thing, if you have not picked up on my sarcasm I apologize, don't you remember me posting I am going to win the HPDE, it was said as a joke because there is no competition. All we have is our lap times to compare each other against.

Thats when poeple wind up crashing and doing stupid stuff because their pride or ego got in the way. Seen it happen a lot on the track with people who have more ego than talent. At an autox its easy to drive 11/10ths and not crash into anything immovable, not so much at a track day. You have to keep your ego in check or you'll wind up in a wall. Isn't that way you stopped tracking your car in the first place, cause you were scared of crashing?

NObody is upset here but you. Behind the computers we are all laughing our asses off and can't wait to see you run a 1:20 second lap your first time out after talking mad chit. Will you improve your times throughout the day? Based on your autox experience I don't see why you wouldn't, thats if you can make it both days without crashing. Will you be in the 14's or 15's your first day or even weekend, not very likely.
YOur right, I quit because I scared the ish out of myself at Beaverrun, 90 backwards scared me.

My butt got hurt when you made your comment at my house, I did not appreciate because you were being serious. I believe in always helping my boys out all the time, regardless of the ish they spew online or just foolin. So I copped an attitude, sorry. As far as all the talk on interwebz I could care less.

All the big boys will be at the Devens National Tour this weekend.

Check out the evolution super shootout in Dover the last weekend in June. It will be fun for people of all skill and prep levels. They take top 52 pax spots with a last chance qualifier, and then 12 random draws to get into the elimination rounds.

Mike, you are going to have a LOT more fun if you go into this NOT thinking its a compeition and instead realizing its a drivers education. You will also be a lot safer and probably learn more. Some of us have hunderds of laps on this track, even if you know the line there is no way you're gonna get the little nuances in only a couple days while you're trying to shake the dust off..

Depends on your wheel offset. You're running 10 inch widths aren't you? THis past summer, I mounted 18x10.5 +18 with 275s on an Evo X. I rolled the rear fenders, and had the owner set camber for -2 in front, and -1.5 in the rear. It sat perfectly and didn't rub at all. The car was also on Eibach springs.

I told your *** that was a joke. I can't help it you get all bend outta shape when the shoe is on the other foot. You are real good at dishing it out but horrible at taking it. TRUTH!

Nobody is gonna leave you hanging out to dry, fool! We all want to see you do well because that means you'll get hooked and sign up for more events with us and more EVO's = more better. We just wanted to see you squirm a little for all the mad **** talking you do online. And by squirming I mean scratching your head wondering how these non-autox pros like yourself are passing you out on track. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. if you have a serious problem or question it isn't like we would just stand around with our hands in our pockets looking at the ground.

When we are at an event its like a big hang out. We talk ****, eat, drink and race our cars. Its a lot of fun. We also help each other out. A LOT. Last weekend a bunch of PCD guys came down to help Thai and myself dominate. THey brought food, water, tires, wheels, tools and didn't ask for anything in return for their services. They did that because we all help each other out at these events. Regardless of the BS that gets spit online we are all friends at the track. Without their help last weekend we wouldn't have been as fast as we were because there just isn't enough time in the day to do all the stuff that needs to be done.

You need to seperate the online BS from reality, because the two are drastically different. Can't believe after our history it has to be spelled out to you like that...

Mike, my entire post was directed at everyone, not just you. I was not sure if you were in on "the joke" that Marc, Thai, et al are perpetuating. I was worried you were taking it too seriously and really don't want you or anyone to buy any armco. Ever.

If you want to run timing gear to check it between sessions I am all for it (I do when I can)...it's the live/predictive timing that get's people in trouble (Oh, i am down .2 in this section, I need to push harder the rest of the lap...oops<armco>).

I honestly think you will be fine and would never do anything to hamper/interfere with your progress. The clean up comment is more for Thai and Marc...they can push each other to be Queen of HPDE-Domination, I just want to be sure they don't egg you on into making an costly error.

Good to know. That is more aggressive than mine, so I should be ok. My camber is also the same.

So it looks like I could probably fit 285's if I wanted. Not sure I want to go that big, but good to know it's an option. Any downside to 285's?
