Andy, those turbo's are designed to work on a larger engine and probably have a bigger turbine housing as a result which keeps spool up within reason and doesn't allow for surge. Our's were made to spool quickly in a relatively small engine where surge was not an issue. The size isn't really important, it comes down to flow which is determined more by the compressor blade and to a smaller extent, the turbine blade than the overall size. Look at something like the FPblack which flows more than a turbo like mine but it's much smaller overall.
Ahh, makes sense. Thanks again you nerd

the 5857 is the perfect street turbo for a 2.4.. 30psi before 4000 and no surge, and the curve keeps going up past 7500.. Although the hta green would be the best for TQ, with ecu controlled boost you can come close to maxing it out on pump with a 2.4.. I can't wait to see some real results from it at the track

Don't feel bad, I got beat by a Prius in one of my first events.

AutoX is very humbling. Having 200 more hp than the other guy isn't as big of an advantage as you may think. Especially on a course like we had on Sunday.

That doesn't sound like fun.. I got woken up by my wife at 5am who has to get up that early for clinicals. Luckily its only once a week.

The low end torque from a stroke motor is really what is missing on the Evo. Anyone who has driven an STI can attest to that. They feel great in the city.

I know those calls. And they always involve thousands of dollars being sent home.

thanks!

I really love these tires. I was thinking, could the softer sidewalls have been an advantage on the slick/bumpy surface? (yeah i know im pulling at straws, lol)

I ran most of this year on all seasons. Its definitely the slow way, but I feel that it helps the learning process. And don't get discouraged by slower cars beating you. Just pick a few people and try to close the gap a bit more each event. Lucky for you there are lots of evo's here.

Thanks for the advice/input. I know whatever I wind up doing I want to still be in SM, so that eliminates bumping displacement (unless I find an SM car to drive next year). I have to do my research and see what the best route for me to go it.

can you repost that graph for reference? NOt saying I'm going to bump displacement, but I could be persuaded.

Thats the funniest thing I heard all morning. In their defence that guy was driving the **** outta that car. it was a sleeper for sure. I think someone said it had an SRT4 engine in there...

NIce driving there Haus. Don't get a big head just yet, lets see if you can pull another one out of your butt at the next event.

I think that course was an anomaly of sorts. Not to take anything away from the people who did well, but it seems like some people who usually placed in the top 1-2 of the class were much lower and people who usually place mid-pack were higher. Whatever the case it is what it is. I really liked the course as it rewarded patience and punished over aggressive driving, which is something I do often. I just wish I would have had a crack at it with the correct pressures in Mike's car.

Dude, lesson for you to learn, always check your tire pressures after each run (that's assuming you even adjusted them prior to running). When I checked the pressures you were anywhere from 2-7 lbs. more pressure than what I normally run. Tire pressure affects handling more than people realize, especially that amount over.

As far as the course, it was tight but challenging. If you look at the overall PAX results, the top 10 are the usual top 10 that we have in our region. So overall the course did not humble the "top" guys in the region. Maybe just you SM **** got humbled...... (I actually screwed the pooch too, but my dirty run would have given me 2nd in class and PAX, pisses me off because I barely hit it).

Put like four of them on, and that should put you in first at the next event!

I'm like 100% sure my second run was 36.5x unless I hit a cone I was unaware of.
