Hmmm.. he did a bit, but it may have been only in the first sweeper ... when he expected the car to stop quicker. Dont remember thinking that he over drove through the rest of the course.

He drove a white STI in STU, was from maryland, had some sponser stickers, this the guy your thinking of?

I was thinking the perrin overflow/catch can ... but maybe ill try some teflon tape first

chu, hook me up with some bling.

I have the regular ARP headstuds.

Do you have the head off the car already Marc? If so, damn you move quick...

^ Nothing, I was only messing around. Personally I don't think the L19's are really necessary unless your making serious power, that being said, if your in there you might as well use the better ones.

No, that was not who I was thinking of...Josh Luster drove your car. He is a terrible driver, do not listen to anything he says! Kidding, Josh is a good guy and does lay down some strong times. His car is also prepped nice for the class. If your pads still have life in them just change that fluid and bleed those brakes proper. Marc C can help with that

Bingo. I'm on standard ARP's and I've reused them several times. 34 PSI and it never had a leak. If I'm not mistaken the Sandmonster is still on the OEM hardware.

For all you guys that asked about speed density this week, I take back the difficulty part. I screwed with Johns car for the better part of 2 weeks almost every evening until my neighbors *****ed about the noise. I was about the give up when I decided to start from scratch and ignore the "walkthrough" I had been following the last few times. Low and behold 30 minutes later I had it running like stock at everything off boost. Another half hour during my lunch break and low boost was tuned. I have to work with the high boost tables more but so far it's running well. I followed the same tutorial when I did mine and had nothing but problems just getting it to idle. He worded it almost backwards and I was adding fuel when I needed to pull it and taking it out where I needed it. He also over simplified it and it just wasn't enough info where I really needed it. I still think it's a bit of a waste on the stock turbo but that's just my 2 cents.

Is there really THAT much of a gain on the stock IX turbo over the HKS cams I have?
Too funny, Headgames ported my GSR / Type R head. I won Honda day at Englishtown years ago and won the ported head. I just recently sold the head to (little Mike Snyder with the plaid CRX). So the head is still working strong, he does nice work over there...

Marc, this is decision time for you, choose wisely based on what you are really going to do with car. Meaning are you prepping for track days, SM or BSP? My guess is the track days and you plan on staying in SM. If you want to be competitive nationally, you may want to consider head work. If you are camming the car, the head is not going to make it more unreliable. If you are going to just run locally, the work you were planning on doing is plenty, the car will be a beast. I think a nice header and intake manifold with a ported throttle body would flow nice. Also consider switching to speed density, all those things will help with flowing some air through that motor. Injectors would be on my list to, especially if you are going to run E85.
You realize with all that extra power you are going to blow your front diff, possibly the transmission too. I would put some $ aside for when that happens, no point in changing anything until it breaks though.

Good luck with you build and let me know if you need my help with anything, you know how good I wrench on cars, so I am here for ya bro!

yup it was josh. He was really helpful and was very committed to teaching me. He waited at the start line for my second and third runs, didn't even ask if i wanted him to run with me.

He was trying to get me to unwind the wheel as I applied the throttle. Also, a few sections required a constant speed, which wasn't happening on my runs. He was WOT through sections that I barely touched the pedal.

I bled the brakes a few months ago, but I am by no mean certain that it was done correctly. The pads could also use a proper bedding in. I welcome any assistance :P

Speed density?
Sandmonster just moved over 60 lb/min of air though a stock maf and 1650cc injectors
And yeah his motor is so stock that the valve cover has never been off since new..But if you are in there, might as well go the distance, thats how I do it anyway but it does not mean I am right either..

I DO think the S2's will see a hell of a gain over hks 280's depending on turbo..Stock turbo mabye 15-20..

The new revised HKS 274/278 wouldn't be so bad either. I know someone with a set, including valvesprings....just saying!

Congrats to you Josh for getting that thing figured out.

Petey, I wouldn't question your advise, you know WAY more about this stuff than I do.

Mike, I shouldn't speak for Marc, but i will anyways.. I don't think E85 is really an option for him with the amount of HPDE's he does. He would need 3 flow-and-go's for those events, he burns enough gas as is.

Marc, depending on how long Headgames would need the head, you may want to look into it. I don't know if you need to car, but if you don't and you can live without it for a lil while longer, I say go for it. I would have loved to of gotten mine done while it was off. Let that 9.8t breathe baby...

Its hard sticking to a plan when so many good deals come up all the time! Thats the case for me at least! But I think I'll be at a standstill after the HKS turbo!
