Last night I had some free time so I put the car up on the jack stands, started it up, climbed under .... and nothing. Purred like a kitten. No bad engine noises, no exhaust noises. I'm thinking more like it's the substrate in the cat. Maybe temperature affects if it's loose or holding itself together.
Sounds like it is most likely the cat. The only other thing to maybe check is where the flanges of the Buschur piece goes into the cat, i think there is a heat shield bonded to the stock cat that may be rubbing or rattling. Just a shot in the dark.

I'll have to give a look for that. I didn't see that, but wasn't looking for it either.

Greensburg? We need to have a Greensburg/Latrobe meet. A southeast of Pittsburgh meet.

I normally fill up at the Oakmont Service plaza on the turnpike, occassionally at the Sheetz in Monroeville. I suspect that the ethanol content at these two stations is higher than at Wexford or at least it was. Last time I filled up at Wexford (I believe it was in May?), the car went pig rich.

When I get a chance, I will pull my injectors, take a look, and let you know.

Thanks for the help
No problem. It was a fun little side project. Like I said, I will have the car back in a week and will run gas from those two stations and see what it is. If you really need to know earlier, just get a little vial of the fuel and you can drop it off to me. I can test it here in the lab, either way works.

I always go to the NTB in McIntyre Square, but that is just because it is close to my house. They do the tires on my car and even my fathers Escalade, and there are never marks. They know what they are doing, just make sure to tell them to use adhesive weights for balancing and not the clip on ones, they will mark the wheels.

I got an alignment package from them a while back for 100 bucks and I am pretty sure it was a 3-5 year one. They did a decent job, but for good performance alignments, I always go to Mike.

Im not so much worried about the % content, just wondered if you had been tracking it over time and noticed it changing. Chances are, the problem lies in my car. I might try to fill up a can of the Wexford E85 this weekend and see if my AFR's change much. I got a full tank in her now tho, so I probably won't find out either way for a week or two... haven't been driving it much.

My car runs a point or two richer on the Getgo E85 over the Sheetz E85 in Robinson.

depends on exactly how lazy/busy i am.

if i'm honest i prefer someone else do my oil, it seems that i can't ever remove a drain plug (and this is true for every car i've ever worked on) without ending up looking like a pelican from the gulf of mexico and requiring 90 pounds of kitty litter to be strewn on the garage floor.

i am a lazy, lazy man eric.

its times like this that you wished the turd burned enough oil to just add 5 qts every 3,000 miles.

Good to know thanks! I wonder if all of the Sheetz in the area use the same supply chain? I filled up at Robinson on my way to the Shootout and didn't notice any change in AFRs.

I have a question!! I currently have a paid off Evo 8 (as some of you may know ) I sold my TSI which was my beater. So I am using my 8 as a DD now. I was considering getting a used car for a beater through a dealership and creating another payment each month. Then the more I thought about it, I was thinking of using my 8 as my DD and then come spring, getting a 10. My 8 has like 95k miles on it and needs a paint job otherwise it's in great shape. If i'm going to make another car payment for myself each month, shouldn't it be for a newer car rather then an older car with a decent amount of miles? What do you guys think?

& also, saw a red evo in cranberry going towards walmart at like 10pm lastnight.. anyone on here?
