That's not Sq. Hill. That's in one of the finer neighborhoods.

Injector size

Hey...trying to get my act together here and get this build going before summer is here and I am not ready....

Planning on picking up the FP Black, but have to decide on what size injectors to go with. I most likely will stay with Pump 93 as I want to maintain the daily driving as much as possible. I just dont see myself going with 85, but who knows....I might change my mind (been known to do that a few times... )

I am thinking 1000 or 1200 size along with a walpro pump (still running the OEM currently)

I would think if I go a little too large, I should be able to tune the flow down? I just don't know how much you can scale them back if you go too big.

Jim, if you think you might go E85 or get a 2nd tune for E85, go big. If you only plan to run pump gas, I'm running 1000cc and they are plenty fine.

You can scale the newer style Bosch injector down significantly. Either the ID or the FIC injectors in the 2000+cc category have been shown to idle just fine on a stock small motor car.

So I would agree that going bigger is the way to go, especially if you are even considering going E-85 in the future. I had to buy a couple sets of injectors over the last few years and got tired of it. With E-85 and a black though, realize that you might get into the realm of needing a double pumper to keep up with the demands of the setup.

These look like a good option. I like my ID injectors but they are a little much, both in flow and price tag.

Travis is the injector guru, so I would wait and see what his thoughts are on the subject.

i hear he's also the guru on the topic of receiving the hot beef injection.

i do remember him mentioning to me a couple months ago that there was a specific type of injector that i should get or risk being punched in the face. they were large. if i remember correctly somewhere in the 1600 range. i *think* they were the FIC's, but do not remember specifically.

The FIC high-Z 1600's are a nice tweener injector.....if you think the 1100's are going to run you short and the 2150's are just a bit much.

They are pricey but if you value a car that idles / drives as good if not better than stock its worth the money.......I just sold my set of FIC 1100 high-z's, they were my favorite injector.

I jumped off the ID bandwagon after the hole starting issues I had......FIC has a great lineup of high-z injectors which is the way to go and there customer service is great - jens is the man.

I understand the reason for the TPMS on cars. I like it when it works right and lets me know if a tire in low on pressure. But, it has to be the most annoying thing on my car right now. Did you know that the stems are metal and they can just crack? Well they can. If you replace it, then you have to get the car to recognize the new one.

What a hassle.

If anyone wants to meet up down at the game on Sunday let me know. Some friends and I will be tailgating in the lot before the game, I'll be cooking out and we are getting a keg.

Go Steelers

+1 on what Trav and Buchner said. If you think you may want to go E85, spend more now rather than waste even more later. 1000s run out of fuel quickly on E85. I have my all but maxed my ID1000's out on the IX turbo. Also I have the starting issues Trav is referring to so the FIC High impedence injectors will most likely be on my car next.

Edit: With the black on E85 you may also need a double pumper if you plan to max that turbo out. It would probably be close.

I had a rental once that displayed the actual pressure.... sure would be nice to have that for racing. Evo's don't have that do they?

thanks for the input guys. I still have a stock block, and internals, so I have to be careful with the boost and the setup. I probably won't run more than 30psi on the black. Maybe next year I can work on the internals upgrade, but first gotta get some goodies and really enjoy the car.

oh yeah, it's right next to the sat nav, besides the dual zone climate controls and settings for the heated leather power seats. just make sure you don't accidentally turn on the heat for the side mirrors or activate the backup camera or the cruise control.

The rental I am talking about was a POS Chevy HHR. Why don't you do us all a favor and keep your smarta$$ comments yourself, pittsburgh thread God?
