Actually, those Ecotec engines are quite stought stock. Not that I'm a fan, but, During testing GM engineers ook a bone stock engine and put i through hell till it broke. They were working on 283 Hp @ 4400 RPM when all 4 rods failed simultaineously. [ref] Motor Books Workshop Turbocharging Performance Hand Book. Pgs 70-79.

Oh I forgot, advise him that with all that $$$ he would spend on that redline he could get him self a nice EVO, You would save him lots of emberrassment, and get a Gold Star for your good deed for the day!!!

haha well he bought the redline with the turbo already on it with custom fab work and everything.. he bought it for 11k the guy did all this **** to it and still couldn't really get any faster in the 1/4 mile like he wanted... his best was a 13.75 on slicks im pretty sure?? the Turbo on this car is huge and the lag is ridiculous... its a holset turbo off of a diesel truck... but id tell him to get an evo but he couldnt afford it and i want to see how far he goes with this and want to see him try and get above 400whp

The super Charger is gutted, correct? If the dude was smart he would have used it with the turbo. I have seen that it is possible. I wonder how much thought actually went into the build. I'm curious now... That looks to me like a very bad match up. Does he drive this thing daily?

 

yea im pretty sure its gutted, and yea thats what my friend wants to do now is use supercharger to since he saw a video like that using supercharger and turbo with 440whp... and idt any thought really went into the build lol... just took it to some shop told them to make it and he bought parts needed for it... and yes he does daily drive it..

 

Holy **** man, I can see from the pic's that he is going to have trouble with this car, sooner than later. He is on the right track with the Super charger idea, if he does his home work it may work out. Not that any one asked for it, but my advice to him would be research the turbo, and make sure its a good match, I don't think that it is, but without a comp map and the Trim & A/R, & Lbs/min it flows there is no way to tell. If it is not I would sell it/ trade for a better match. Now I wanna help this guy.

 

You'll see him at the meet! if you want to help! but he doesn't really get that.. he just thinks his turbo is good for everything and he thinks his turbo is fine he will just make 700hp instead of 400... with new injectors and a tune.. Idk... he gets on my nerves and when you talk with him and listen to how much bs he talks he will get on yours to i just don't want to say that he's full of **** Hes a nice kid but just doesn't get it. Ive been talking to him about me going E85 so now he wants to go E85 too haha i do agree though supercharger will help but idt that turbo will do any good.. and that setup... id just lose that whole setup and buy a twincharge kit that will work for sure

 

Fo Sho, I understand brah. I guess I just hate seeing misguided people throwing $$ at a bad project, Prob cause I did it and no one hleped me. It sucked, hard! Also anything specific I should be applying to protect my paint a bit (other then getting some type of clearbra)?

 

Got my E85 test tube yesterday and tested 2 blends of E 1 from last year and recent fuel I just purchased at sheetz. The fuel from last year was bought like first week of September the 2 blends are real close in Ethenol content off less than 5%

I am skeptical of the test itself as both blends ended up being over 85% !!

Last years blend was almost 90% this year was around 87% lol

I dunno time to hit the dyno I guess and get some logs and dial up boost !!
