You're gonna spend the rest of your day at work dressed up as 1980s Carroll Shelby???

Jer, if suby hsnt built their company around ruggednes, safety, reliability, and awd...what has it been built around? That is how they have marketed their wrx for years and every model they make folows the same wrx-like formula. The impreza/wrx is their bread and butter, so what does Mitsu have? The lancer? They have very little marketing direction and linearity.

Its like they just try to take stabs at various areas of the market to see if they can take a chunk of profit from other name brand leaders. It is just upsetting to me that they have proven themselves brilliant with the Evo and instead of building upon that brilliance, they squander it with making it a hybrid. I don't see anyway that this car will be able to compete when it has an extra 300 lbs of batteries on board. Whether it is appealing to you or not is irrelevant. All it is going to do is sell poorly and be slower and sloppier (w/o the ability to be tunable), so those that have evos now (most of us) will likely shy away. How many people is it really going to appeal to?

Mitsu has defined its strategy quite clearly. All their new models going forward will be fuel efficient with less emissions through use of EV technology. They are going to focus on growing Asian markets. Not shrinking, over regulated, litigation happy US. Mitsu is planning to expand production and double profits with this strategy. They're really going all in with this stuff. I suspect they may fail. The EVO XI is going to be a hybrid and still get under 5 seconds 0-60. That's the stated goal for the car.

They don't expect it to sell well here. I'll be surprised it they import it. That doesn't matter though. The US market is no longer in the drivers seat for auto manufacturing.

The EVO's have been good cars. But they haven't made much of an impact here in the US outside of a small market of enthusiasts who like to have very expensive parts replaced under warranty. Not exactly a recipe for profitability.

The US release of the EVO has probably sold more magazines then Mitsubishi's.

I bet outback/forester sales are greater then wrx/Sri sales. I agree that Subaru does follow those few marketing things. In fact, if it wasn't for the hippies of the US. Subaru would have failed many years ago. Suby's have always been a cult like car brand.

Mitsu are much more popular outside the US. These are global company's and design for the global market.

SEMA 2011 - first day

Well, I just got back to the room and started to work on transferring photos and video...hotel internet is really, really slow.

So...here is a link to photos, found my old photo gallery software program...

I have videos, but slow internet is becoming a challenge
